    New build

lol i had one of those new : ) really good to see it. assholes at the bike shop built it up with the fork thewrong way around so i had the brake inside the frame, feet that touched the front wheel and nasty looking geometry. first time ive seen one with the forks on the right way lol

    is this worth keeping?

not old enough to be interesting but i was taken by the fat ally frame. completely unbranded parts other than the v8 pedals and GT stem so ive no idea what it is..has a sticker that says it has been distributed by vega corp chester...though not a lot of information online about what it is/was...

    does anyone recognise this sticker?

Re: obviously it could just be an apollo, though the weight of it seems to discredit that-the serial number that begins with AJ... isnt so encouraging lol. i know that you can put a bontrager saddle on anything but there are a few bits on this that dont point to a completely cheapy bike...

    does anyone recognise this sticker?

no ide what this bike is, its too small for me, maybe 16 inch ally frame, very light, square section chain and seat stays and was covered in random stickers and the originals had been peeled away i guess. the only sticker that looks original to the bike is this one in the pic. any ideas? cheers

Marin MTB - a question aboutt the steering

no neither do i but i would minimise the number of moving parts in the general area surrounding your problem. also the fact that it does have an extender might have well been the cause of your issue if you had a heavy person leaning on them and putting more strain on the head tube than it was...

Marin MTB - a question aboutt the steering

just a thought, but do you think that the stem extender thing might not have something to do with this notchiness?

    Is Retro faster?

when i used go through bikes in my late teens/early twenties..and not having much disposable income, i would be picking up bikes to see what they weighed. any mid price bikes that i have bought over the last 15 years seem to weigh a ton in comparison to my old skinny frames with rigid forks...

    standard hub spacing?

i wouldve expective to see a fracture in it somewhere already to be honest to give me some sort of clue as to where the bend might be but there isnt anything to indicate such unless its just a nice long shallow sweep. yes i understand it would need heating up but if i cant find where its bent...

    standard hub spacing?

Re: lol i just measured up and im 120mm : / was hard to see, given that chain stays can be asymmetric but the gap would be impossible to fill...unless you have a hub from the 1940s i could borrow? thanks for the link gonna have to buy that tool then cheers

    standard hub spacing?

i wanted to build up this sachs frame i have but ive tried a couple of rear wheels on and they are about a cm too wide for the drop outs/swing arm. given that its a weird old bike and also been squashed on one side, big chain ring bent, derailleur hanger snapped, it could well be that the...
