Well, he went on to a website (kona retro I think) and was examining the welds compared to those in the kona catalogue. He also mentioned that the knock off Russian made ones had a kind of yellow tinge to them. I'll see if I can get him to post in here with more info..

I just spotted this thread... I did indeed have a King Kahuna for sale, it was sold to a lad yesterday who came extremely well prepared to check the angles, tube lengths etc! It sounds like there are quite a lot of knock off Kona ti frames doing the round? Anyway I think they are superb...

Zask + front disc is what i've done. I've played with an A2Z disc mount on the back but it doesn't work well enough, back to an XTR V methinks!

It's a retro-ish spec, forks, brakes and some components are from the late 90's but then it's mega 9 drivetrain is much more recent :D

A stunning, brand new GT Zaskar 20th anniversary re-issue frame. Genuine USA made unlike the current factory Zaskars which are Taiwan made! I bought this earlier in the year in a view to build up a retro bike but i'm a bit skint at the moment so can't afford to give it the finishing kit it...
