    Help with REW Reynolds.

I've now heard that woodrup cycles may have made frames for REW Reynolds. They used the same nervex lugs. It's going to be the frame number that holds the secret as most frames like this have just 4 digits.

    Help with REW Reynolds.

Re: I've been looking at the flying Scott identifying page and everything looks good apart from the seat stay tops, the fork crowns and the frame number configuration. It's 99% the same and dates to the early 50's. Maybe REW Reynolds cheated early on and bought other frames and rebranded them...

    Help with REW Reynolds.

Ok, so I had a bit of spare time at work this morning so removed some paint. No stickers or sticker marks so still no proof. It's a lovely metallic blue either from new or has had a bare metal repaint. I did notice that the rear dropouts are brev simplex and not Campag as originally stated.

    Help with REW Reynolds.

I'm still hoping for REW Reynolds. Maybe the early ones were built with Nervex and numbered differently. Problem is, they made such a small amount of frames that it's hard getting any info on them. We will keep digging though.

Interesting. The frame number is WS0004556. 4 I had that as Worksop December 1980. I'm even more confused now :-) Was Worksop still producing bikes as late as 84 ?

    Help with 1980 team Raleigh

Hi, sorry. I just wanted to clarify if it is indeed a team Raleigh as I havnt seen another one with the slotted BB and the under BB cable routing. The cables normally go through guides over the top.

Re: This is quite exciting. I like all this detective work. It makes my evening go quick though. I also have a nice old Dawes frame which I have narrowed down to a 1950's tartan five star but it's in the alternative colour/design to the only photo I can find on the net and the photo in the...

    Another newbie saying hi

Re: Thanks, it's all done now. I took it to work and left in reception and somebody came in and ended up putting a deposit on it and is collecting it this week. It wasn't even for sale. I'll get some photos before it goes.

It should have tubs I think, so I'll build a set if them to correct spec and then have a more modern set if I ride it a lot.

Cheers mate . So far I have cranks, front mech, rear mech braded cable. Looks like the wheels will the most expensive bit because I want it to be as new. This one will be a slow build.

Re: Yeah I'm still sure it's a REW Reynolds due to the guys relationship with the shop. It's just strange that I can't find one similar.

Yeah brake bridge, that's what I meant :-) The BB is not original, I remember him saying that. Just need to find out if REW used those lugs ever.

We will do it ourselves . I'm a partner in Reflex Auto Design in Daventry , we build some pretty special show vehicles. My brother is very handy with a spray gun. Here are my Dawes that we did.

Ok I now know it has Nervex professional lugs. And no, once I find out what it is I will be reprinting it as it has been painted badly already.
