    show us your Rocky Mountains!

One of my favourite threads but somehow I've never posted anything here. Where to start... How about my 1991 Summit Max - a model only sold in Germany I think. Not sure how it ended up as part of a deal with a low end GT and a junk BMX bike, but that's how it goes. This is how it started...

Help needed - pictures of Rocky Mountain thin air 1997

Not sure if this is the guy or not, but he is in Hungary; https://www.ebay.ca/str/bikedec I've ordered two sets from him and have been very impressed with the quality. I only see the one set for a Blizzard in his listings.

    Rocky Mountain performance paint

I find it really hard to make out differences in the '91 and '92 Hammer based on the catalog images that are online - apart from the obivous component differences anyway.

    Rocky Mountain performance paint

None of the bikes in the '91 catalog had that sticker. And the catalog had a paragraph about 'Performance on the trail. Performance engineering. Performance for competitors.' and so on and so on. But, no mention of Performance Paint. Would have been the perfect place to mention it I figure. On...

    show us your gt's

I picked up this GT last summer. Didn't have any inkling as to what it was, I just thought it was time for a GT project. It was even more terrible than it looks - every bolt that should have been Allen had been swapped for a hex head. Also someone started to drill holes in the top of the...

    Disc brake compatibility

I recently had a stolen bike recovered, after 18 months, which is pretty crazy. However, the front caliper was missing. One of the post mounts on the fork was half-sheared off too, not sure if those things are related... Anyway, It's a Shimano SLX, M670 model. I really liked these brakes, but...

1991 Cannondale SM800 Beast of the East

This is a bike I don't have anymore, and ultimately a sad story, but I liked this bike as much as any I've ever built, so it's worth a post I think. A very well used '91 Cannondale SM800. I think it was mostly original. It had the Shimano DX group, but an XT rear derailleur, the push-push...

    1990 Cannondale SM700 cruiser project

The steerer is 5" long and the threads are 1 1/8" I'm not sure what size frame it came off of - I bought the bike for $50 and found a crack on the top tube at the head tube, so the frame is long gone.

    1990 Cannondale SM700 cruiser project

    I've got a fork, but it's from an SM2000. And it's 1"

1991 Alpinestars Cro-Mega DX old shovel

A buddy of mine bought the pink LX version of this bike, after I tried to convince him the Fisher HK-II was a better deal. This has a 1 1/4" headtube I think?

    NOS OUTLAND VPP3

Re: Re: This BIKE article hits the main points that I recall - very unusual bike, but very expensive, and broke easily. Didn't really go anywhere, and eventually sold the patents to Santa Cruz for the Blur, and Intense for the Spider. https://www.bikemag.com/blog/web-monkey ... rry-right/ I...

1990 Shogun Prairie Breaker Team Issue

When Hardcore started up in Edmonton, they sold Shogun. I saw a guy two summers ago rolling around the South side on one, and I think there was one on Kijiji last summer. Really cool bike!

    Astrix Solo

I was looking for a full suspension project last winter, like a Santa Cruz Heckler or a Rocky Element, but when this came up, I couldn't resist. It was listed in the Accessories section of eBay, and even with that mistake, the ten frames the seller had sold fast. Astrix was out of Colorado...

Show us your: Early Rocky Mtn Blizzards

Re: Here's my '91. It's battle-scarred for sure, but the parts are all in excellent shape. Well, not counting the fork, it's just for show. These ATAK hubs and Ringle skewers feel a little out of place to me, but they are shiny! I have a couple sets of barends that could look good...

    Steelman Manzanita

Re: This is a real beauty, really well done! Do you know what kind of frame tubes are used here? I recently picked up a frame with chainstays exactly like this - I think they're Columbus?

    Moulden CDN steel

Somehow I feel like I worked on this bike. Did you buy it from someone in Edmonton? We had a guy come in once with some RaceFace cranks he had just gotten as warranty replacements, and a Moulden frame in this colour, that I built for him as a single speed. Also kinda crazy; I think I picked up...

    '88 Rocky Mountain Avalanche

So here's my 1988 Rocky Mountain Avalanche. Given how many times I've checked those old Rocky catalogs, I don't know how '87 got stuck in my head - it just doesn't work like it used to I guess. Maybe the Kuwahara is also an '88; http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... p;t=276088 This...

    '88 Rocky Mountain Avalanche

I actually picked up this bike two summer ago, but never got around to posting anything. But there's another that got posted recently so I figured it was time. Here it as delivered; These are hardly common, but I've never seen one with the BB junction and top tube painted like this one...

Anyone local to Edmonton, Alberta ?

Are you still after this? I can grab it for you if it's still available.

    show us your Rocky Mountains!

    That's the one I had! It had the original fork in purple, and may have had a steel Syncros stem. I have an '88 now. We're supposed to get above zero tomorrow, so maybe I'll break it out for some pics. Teaser for now;
