ZASKAR: to repair or wave goodbye?

Well here we are 10 years later, a lot greyer but I’ve still got the ‘Zaskar’ and the 29er. I fitted the Zaskar frame out with some cheap wheels and solid forks and used it as spare bike but the time has come to part with it after 30 years so I’ll put it for sale in the next few days. I’m still...

ZASKAR: to repair or wave goodbye?

It's going now, in fact it's the only bike that's working at the moment, but when the 29er gets fixed it'll go back into semi-retirement. http://www.flickr.com/photos/43328418@N00/8701888642/

ZASKAR: to repair or wave goodbye?

Outcome: Baulked at the total cost for 2 decent wheels, freewheel, cassette, chain ring, BB (bit squeaky) and a decent front tyre. It's a 2nd bike, and the 29er would be deprived of funds. so bought http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BANKRUPT-PAIR ... 589aafdeb8 on sale at £30. surprisingly all went...

ZASKAR: to repair or wave goodbye?

That's mission creep. it goes ... as I'm changing the cogs both ends I might just as well go for a 2x10 setup with a bash ring, but I'd have to change the combined shifter/brake levers so might as well go hydraulic disc as the wheels could easily be disc friendly and might as well be disc only...

ZASKAR: to repair or wave goodbye?

Thanks for all the help, it looks like I’ll be buying 2 wheels, cassette, cassette spacer , chainset and chain. My only concern is that a) they work with each other, ie line up properly and b) work with the Alivio shifters. As I rarely change bikes, I’m on my third MTB since 1989, and as the...

ZASKAR: to repair or wave goodbye?

an interesting question, but yes, had it from new. BUT it wasn't a Zaskar when I first had it, it was (I think) an LTS, or was it RTS? -- it's been a while. Within a year I'd broken the suspension linkages (Cleeve Hill quarries), decided the suspension wasn't going to cope, so had all the bits...

ZASKAR: to repair or wave goodbye?

Hi, I've been lurking here for a while and now I need help! My trusty Zaskar which I've owned from new has finally eaten through it's rear rim so I need to change/repair the wheel. The bike is in semi retirement and used when I need a bike that I can put on my shoulder for coastal path steps...
