    1950 - Holdsworth Cyclone-De-Luxe

My brother's 1947 Cyclone De-Luxe Road-Path frame before and after the build (the latter picture is crappy phone photo, sorry). The frame was updated for cantilever brakes and a modern internal gear hub. Look for more photos on the frame restoration here...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Re: Re: Contacted on eBay, a seller of a recently sold Cyclone-De-Luxe frame that had the corresponding De-Luxe headbadge, and he confirmed that rivet spacing was 64mm (vs. the 56.5mm spacing of the regular Holdsworth badge). So, at any rate, now we know that!

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Re: Being only 36 frames far off is nice, isn't it, considering the 70+ years passed :P My frame is 23" but it may look larger because of the optically longer looking headtube, for the clip-on type headset bearing recesses. Yours do not have recessed headset bearings, does it? I have yet to...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

I couldn't find any response to Steve's previous request, but would also be very happy to find out about the rivet spacing of the Cyclone De-Luxe badge. Just recently acquired a Cyclone De-Luxe bicycle (more photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/hgabor/al ... 7566447147) that came with a...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Re: Eclipse / Holdsworth frame number Bit late to the party, but this number looks very much like a 1948 (Apr) Claud Butler frame number w/matching font style and production number.

Excel (Dan Genner Cycles) Tandem a family heirloom

Re: Not sure if this thread is still alive, but hey! Just wanted to share that I'm quite glad to think that I could finally ID the tandem frame I have purchased on eBay just recently. It lacked any transfers/decals and the head badge so my only choice was to rely on photos found on-line...

1948 Claud Butler Avant Coureur #82595

I was very tempted though to enter into the auction for having assumed a similar calculation. :P Only I would have had the bike shipped to Hungary (where I live) and I have too many Claud Butlers in my basement, already. One of them though, also is a 24.5" frame (1951 New Allrounder), so I...

1948 Claud Butler Avant Coureur #82595

You and I are both very lucky that the frame is 24.5 and not a half inch smaller... Otherwise this auction on ebay could have easily ended up in a bad fight!   Congrats on the purchase, though, looking forward to watching your progress with the restoration!

    Claud Butler id - hopefully!

Re: Another mystery Claud Butler is here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Reyn ... 7675.l2557 Frame number on BB shell and fork steerer looks alright here, though fork crown is not really CB specific. Notwithstanding that, not much Claud Butlers can be found on-line, so it is difficult to...

    Claud Butler id - hopefully!

Re: I reckon, this is not really a fresh thread, but hey! I have yet to see a Claud Butler with a serial number stamped into the stem of the downtube on the BB shell, as it is displayed on this bike. (I personally own nearly a dozen of CB-s dating from 1948 to 1956, and all of them have the...

    1946 Claud Butler

Re: Re: If serial number on the steerer tube matches that on the underside of the BB shell, than the frame can be considered intact and original. I have caveats though, that the fork is original to the frame. The frame has mudguard eyes integrated with the the rear dropout whereas the forks...

    1939 Claud Butler "D.S.H. Championship Path #931600E

Re: Re: By seconding the above opinion, I would also give the dating a reconsideration. The axe-head lugs on the frame are in fact lugs (!!!) named "Continental lugs" as in the 1939 catalogue and not bilams, one would think (the difference is clearly visible by comparing these lugs with...

    Claud Butler id - hopefully!

Re: Hi, Pull the forks and look for numbers stamped into the steerer tube. Any number matching one of the numbers stamped into the BB shell will be your serial number. Once you made sure which is your SN, dating/ID-ing the bike will be a matter of seconds :)
