That's brilliant! :) Pure coincidence - just happened to be looking at Argos' website last night whilst researching for my next project (a Raleigh Randonneur or similar.) Hope you get it then. Happy cycling! 👍

    Wanted Raleigh Randonneur

Looking for size 58 frameset (or complete bike or anything in between) preferably the Reynolds 708 model, for amongst other things the extra tyre clearance, but will consider earlier models as well (and the Royal(e) etc etc) Must be in decent condition and seller must be happy to ship to the EU.

The guy who did the paint work is on this forum. Think he's in Australia now. Neil might know :) Reason I ask about the forks is my Concept 90 came minus forks, and even though I was lucky enough to find Dave Lloyd forks for it I don't think they're off a Concept 90 (earlier probably, 80s...

Ah man, that's a real shame :( Nice paint job too. I couldn't justify the cost of recreating a D Ll style finish on mine so went for a metallic green (it'd been powder coated black by the previous owner anyway) I guess the forks are toast as well?

Sorry to hear that the Concept 90's off the road David (no injuries I hope.) I had mine repaired by Bob Jackson. Needn't be too expensive especially if you can find a cheap way to get it resprayed afterwards. BTW, if you ever think of getting rid of yours I might be interested in the forks (if...

Re: Not at all! I can understand from your past experience that you'd want to be 100% certain a band-on doesn't slip. Me as well, which is why I posted the question. It's always great to get some advice on here. I feel I can go on with the project now. Even though the differing opinions are...

Re: Had a very quick reply from Bob Jackson and they've stated that the band-on's been fitted 'perfectly'. Good news! I can carry on with my build now :)

Re: Cheers Neil :) The C2000 sounds interesting. Look forward to seeing it built up next year then! I've also got a Graham Weigh in 853 as well as a Ribble in 653. Keep meaning to put them up on here - I will one day! :D

Re: Hey Neil - Many thanks for the info!! So it is 753 after all! Great news :) That's a great little piece of history you have there, so lucky it survived. My Concept 90's lovely to ride, very very nimble. It's quick! :D It's been a single speed since the refurb but I've started setting it...

Re: ok..so I've just slackened both fitted gear cables now coz I've got the absolute fear and I'm pondering whether to even go on with the project :? Is this why band-ons were superseded then? :D I mean, if it's that risky? Let's see what Bob Jackson have to say tomorrow...
