    Van Tuyl

Race scene in Barnsley used to be Van Tuyl dealers. Perhaps worth contacting Richard there to see if he can shed some more light on the brand?

    Lemond frame ID query

Re: Hi Mike, It’s an interesting one, as the paint job suggests is from the 1991/92 season, but I believe those frames were made with either Columbus SL or TSX from memory, whereas the Excell models (GL and GLX) came in for the 1993 and 1994 seasons. Do you know if your friend’s had it since...

    My Lemond

Re: My first Le Mond! If you can find a copy anywhere, the Gan GLX model was reviewed in Performance Cyclist magazine back in either 1993 or 1994 where it received rave reviews. The recommendation was to ensure that you didn’t consider buying any other steel frame until you’d ridden one, and...

    Columbus SLX vs Neuron

The thing I took away from the article was that there was no clear winner, and no apparent relationship between the grade of tubing and the likelihood of it being picked as the favourite by the testers. I know it’s not really helpful, but it seems to suggest that a lot of it comes down to...

    Columbus SLX vs Neuron

I don’t know if you’ve already read this article but it may prove useful, however from what I’ve read in the past, it’s often suggested the quality of the framebuilder’s work and the geometry are supposed to have a greater influence on the ride compared to the tubing itself. This experiment is...

    FALCON - PMS 753

The PMS Falcon bikes did indeed have the same paint job and Dura Ace groupsets so you almost certainly have a team bike. If I recall correctly, Falcon didn't make any high end bikes at that time, suggesting it's not a replica.

    Lemond TSX "Z Team Replica"

The TVT in the picture doesn't have a frame number boss on it and the number is attached to the top tube using a clip. Steel frames with pips on the headtube are indeed pump pegs, something you wouldn't expect to see on a team frame. Team frames would have had a boss on the top tube, near to...

    Lemond tsx or tvt?

Someone who has an original Z Team TVT will be able to correct me if I'm wrong but I'm fairly sure that the bottom of the forks and the BB area were pink rather than red, similar to the Z logo itself on the jersey.

    Lemond tsx or tvt?

Re: You might have to ask around a few frame builders about rebonding the frame. I contacted Argos about having a TVT resprayed and one of the tubes being rebonded and they said they weren't able to do it.

    Lemond tsx or tvt?

The other option if you're happy to consider the need to respray, is the more readily available 1993-4 Gan team Lemonds. I had one of the 94 models with Excel GLX tubing and it was fantastic. Apart from the slightly garish paint job it's the one frame as regret selling after replacing it with a...

    Lemond tsx or tvt?

You're not the only one as my dream bike has always been the 1990 Z Team TVT. There's still a fair few TVT's around, especially on EBay or on French sites such as Trocvelo although you're unlikely to find many in the Z Team livery you're describing so you might need to consider respraying one...

Colnago master / best road frameset ever ???

Very interesting read hamster; thanks for posting it. Certainly fits in with my own observations - I'm lucky enough to have a Condor Super Accaio as well as the Tommasini and a Colnago EPS, and I'm afraid the Condor is my least favourite by far. Whilst is made of very modern high tech Columbus...

Colnago master / best road frameset ever ???

I'd have to agree that the Colnago Dream wasn't the nicest bike to ride; great looking bike but pretty harsh; so much so I sold mine after a couple of years and got a C50 instead. My Tecno's made out of oversized Columbus Nemo which gives a stiff and very smooth ride. I'm sure it's not quite as...

Colnago master / best road frameset ever ???

Re: Have you considered a Tommasini Tecno? Like you I was looking at buying a Colnago Master, having had 5 Colnagos over the years. However, I decided that rather than spending the best part of a grand on a second hand Master which may have had some chips, scratches etc, I could have a brand...

Coppi / FiR / Alpina Identification & Information Please?

Here's some history on the Coppi frames in case you haven't seen this already. http://www.pelizzoliworld.com/history/ Apparently Wiggo bought one recently as a restoration project. Think it might have been Bugno's or Bartoli's from memory. Have a look on his Instagram account as I think he may...

    Colnago C40 Fork issue

Assuming that it is a steel fork and not carbon, a frame builder will be able to replace the steerer tube. If I recall correctly, Bob Jackson list this on their price list of frame repairs/ modifications.
