    Rourke fixed wheel

Yes indeed, but from what I've encountered the Paul Washington frames I've seen all had a little more taper section on the wrap around. He also seemed to like using a seat clamp lug with integrated threads on one side and a recess for the binder bolt for the other. Hilary Stone pointed that out...

    Rourke fixed wheel

From looking at the wrap around seat stay style, that's a Jason build. Paul Washington's were a bit different.

Dave Lloyd Softride 653 serial number 1

There's an interesting article about Alex Stieda and the Softride bike in this month's (July) issue of Road Bike Action magazine. One of Softride's original designers is working at Kinekt Seatpost in Bellingham, WA USA. https://cirruscycles.com/ cheers,

    Recommend a chain tool

I also have a Park CT5 that works well but I also have a Park CT4.3. The stout 4.3 is much easier to use and supposedly is better for 11 and 12 speed chains. That said I have broken a pin, buy some extras to have around.

    Harry Hall upgrade.

Nice work, very nice thing to do for your friend. The modern gear shifting is a huge improvement.

Seatpost binder bolt with threads in the frame

Re: That style seat clamp is used on my Clive Stuart frame. Ken Bird and Bill Gray were part of that group. I believe a 5.5 mm hex wrench is the head size, Don't know the thread pitch.

Anyone dented beloved steel framed bike?

That's terrible. I feel for you. It's too bad the paintless dent repair they do in cars can't be done to bike tubes (too thick) I've read some have filled in the dents and repainted but I understand the proper way is to have the tube replaced by a good framebuilder and a new paint job.

    1989 Brian Rourke Valuation Please

Very elegant build, pairing a new drivetrain with a classic frame. You may regret selling it.
