    92 GT Zaskar

Very Nice. You don't need to do much to that bike. It really comes downto your budget and inclination.

Quik's 1992 GT Zaskar LE (Nearly Finished)

Hey thanks. It wasn't too hard, there was a lot of cleaning involved and then a lot of polishing but I definitely recommend autosol - it works miracles. I didn't do anything amazing to the bike like some other forum members. The thing about Zaskars is its pretty easy to make them look good...

Haha, I had the Rocky Mountain on my watch list too. Good luck with the missus. I've got my eye on a Marin, Bear Valley in Welly. Think he wants too much tho.

Quik's 1992 GT Zaskar LE (Nearly Finished)

A few hours over three sessions. First was a clean with soapy water and then two sessions with autosol. I used two cloths, one to apply the polish and the other to buff it up. I tried a really fine wet and dry on parts of the frame but chose not to continue as I didn't want to ruin the finish...

Quik's 1992 GT Zaskar LE (Nearly Finished)

Thanks man. Gil M does a great job with the decals. They really brought the bike to life and I'm not sure the photos do justice to the frame. I'll try to get a couple of photos while out and about.

Quik's 1992 GT Zaskar LE (Nearly Finished)

The light isn't the best for the photos but looking back at the original photos i'm pretty happy where its at. It doesn't look anything like it did when I got it and I haven't had to do anything drastic yet. Close to original spec and nicely tidied up. Can't wait to ride it but have to...

Quik's 1992 GT Zaskar LE (Nearly Finished)

Update time. Well, its not finished yet but its close and its definitely ride-able. I've tried to keep the build as close to original spec as possible and also as cheap as possible. I've also been realistic about the frame which has been ridden hard and has quite a few scratches on it. I...

    96 Explosif on Trademe NZ

Had a look at the bike with Mahoney and can send you some more photos i took while there if you like. PM me your email address if you'd like to see them. We were pretty put off by the repeat when we saw it. The spray paint job has also left residue spray on one side of the frame and even on...

mtb Daves zaskar Le updated 16/6/12

Well, if you are wanting to get it closer to original spec I'd be happy to take all of the aftermarket stuff on it off your hands to make it easier for you... I'm pretty sure they didn't come with full xtr

mtb Daves zaskar Le updated 16/6/12

Yeah looks like you've got some great parts to work with there, pace forks, xtr, kore stem. Whoever owned it before you made some good changes by the look. Give it a clean up and get some ideas from the forum it it doesn't look like it needs much at all. But.... Would look great with a...

    Suspension forks on old bikes

Interesting, keep the comments coming. No pump, just the bike. I bought it in rough condition a few weeks back and am in the process of doing her up. The previous owner said the mag 21s were added later on and that the bike originally came with manitou forks, which doesn't sound right but...

    Suspension forks on old bikes

Thanks mate. I'm going to take it for a thrash about tomorrow to see how the forks respond. I'm a bit nervous about trying to service them because they are so old. They seem pretty good for their age and they feel pretty firm and have a decent rebound. How should a MAG 21 feel at the proper...

    Suspension forks on old bikes

Need some advice here and am interested in hearing opinions. I have a 1992 Zaskar LE with MAG21s in ok condition. I'm considering replacing the forks and wondering what length you can go to with these old frames without risking damage to the frame, reducing control of the bike and completely...

where in NZ is Carmen SanDiago ?

Hey team NZ I've put this on the "wanted" forum but thought I'd chuck it here to avoid postage from the US and eBay prices. I'm looking for a wide 600mm approx to fit a GT flipflop stem 25.4 clamp to go on my Zaskar. Anyone have one of these or know where to find one? Ive seen Titec...

SORTED - thanks all: Cheapish H/Bars 25.4 Black low-mid rise

Don't want to crash the party but I'm quite keen on the same thing to fit a GT flipflop stem. So if there are extras I'm keen to have a look.

Wide low rise handlebar for 25.4 clamp for GT flipflop stem

I'm looking for a wide handlebar for my 1992 GT Zaskar to fit a GT flip flop stem. Must fit 25.4 clamp. Looking for something like a Titec flat tracker or Salsa Moto Ace. Cheers

That frame looks in great condition. Must agree about size too, an 18inch GT suits me to a tee. It just fits right. Looking forward to this one, good luck.
