Great poster. I do believe, though, that’s one of his carbon/LitespeedTi bikes. If you look at the down tube, you can make out the seam where carbon tube meets Ti headtube lug. I think a combination of dust and lighting makes the tubes look grey instead of black.

It is indeed an original banner from the 1990 Worlds but I had nothing to do with putting the race or the swag or advertising together. I’m just lucky to have collected some very cool stuff back then when I was racing and since.

Thought I’d take a quick photo of this banner with a pair of bikes similar to those that competed there and then. Neither bike is completely correct build but I’ll likely redo the shot after making appropriate corrections.

I agree. When I raced in the 80’s and early 90’s, I tried every tire in every size. Smokes and Smoke Lites were hands down the very best over wet roots and slippery rocks common on the various courses of the NORBA and Grundig circuits. Less aggressive treads worked on the sandy or smoother...
