'94 John Tomac's Raleigh USA race bike saddle identification

Great poster. I do believe, though, that’s one of his carbon/LitespeedTi bikes. If you look at the down tube, you can make out the seam where carbon tube meets Ti headtube lug. I think a combination of dust and lighting makes the tubes look grey instead of black.

    John Tomac Signature Model Raleigh

Seatpost diameter for most of the LS and all of the Merlin JTS was 27.2 A few of the Litespeed JTS took 27.0. I always wondered if by design or due to worn reamer. He felt the Carbo handlebar was too flexible leading to less precise handling.

    John Tomac Signature Model Raleigh

Absolutely MAGNIFICENT!!! The serial number is stamped on the outside of the right dropout on the rear derailleur hanger. There were only a handful of green-decal Litespeed Raleigh John Tomac Signature Model produced before switching over to the more familiar Blue —> Silver decals for the...

    1990 World MTB Championship

It is indeed an original banner from the 1990 Worlds but I had nothing to do with putting the race or the swag or advertising together. I’m just lucky to have collected some very cool stuff back then when I was racing and since.

    1990 World MTB Championship

Thought I’d take a quick photo of this banner with a pair of bikes similar to those that competed there and then. Neither bike is completely correct build but I’ll likely redo the shot after making appropriate corrections.

    1991 Yeti Ultimate build thread

27.2 though 27.0 will also work and not slip down.

    Tomac signature Mongoose/Merlin frame

That’s a 1990 Mongoose IBOC Signature, marketed after Tomac went to Yeti for a year. Front triangle and 1/3 of chainstays are made by Merlin and are Ti. Rear monostay, dropouts and 2/3 chainstays are steel, the tubing being Prestige. The 1989 all Merlin Ti monostay frame is the Mongoose John...
