Could i ask for everyone to keep a llokout dir this bike pkease. I spent 200 quid Doing it up only gor it to be stolen with all my other bikes. This was back in december in bristol But possibly its beenbon here. Any help or news gratefulky received.

All day on rebuild, well all afternoon trying get the gears working and the rear brake gave up in the end! Think I'll be off to the bike shop after all

bike duly stripped, tyres off and rims and hubs clean, brakes dismantled and cleaned, new rear cassette fitted, crankset taken apart and completely cleaned, new cables and tyres, saddle, brake blocks and rebuild tomorrow. I have a feeling it will take longer to rebuild than it did to take apart...

its chipped to pieces all over really badly right back to the alu

i have just looked at the spec and this 96-97 bike is almost the same as mine but my rear mech is SR Suntour not STX so maybe i have a replacement or earlier model. gives me a list as a basis but i hope to to go all deore on this restore

thats the place. also just spoken to BBW and they say they have buckets of old Specialized bits up there so im going up on Saturday. Any idea of the year of my bike, i'd like to try and replace the stickers like for like

thanks for the offer. just been talking to a colleague in work who like to do up bikes and he has recommended me a place in Nailsea where he had a frame redone for £30 so i am now thinking complete strip down and respray then new retro parts back on ! Gonna start looking for Specialized parts...

i tried riding it last night and all the gear changes are way out, might just need adjusting so ill have a read up later on how to do this and give it a try, already ordered new tyres and a saddle

thats my aim but the guy in the shop said the teeth look pretty worn front and back and im not up for spending time in hospital. The rear casette is 7 ring and i can only find retro 8 ring xt on ebay, will this fit or do i really need a 7 ?
