Wheelies - Who can do them ?

I like wheelies. It definitely took me a number of years to be proficient, but it's fun. Once the basics are dialled in, almost every bike is wheelieable. Manuals are way harder to learn. That's where I struggle. Being able to pull a manual is also a lot more dependent on the type of bike. So...

Despite the looks this had not much going for it

Great looking bike! Will this get ridden? Sorry if this was discussed before: What material are these spokes made of?

Cool bike! Did you mount that rear tire this way on purpose? One could argue it‘s on back to front. Otherwise: Love that you‘re going for a dropper post! Deore cranks are looking adequate. In terms of facing BB shells, this is especially useful for external BB bearings, as @Nothin-fancy pointed...

I can relate. The black framed bike could have been my forever-bike and it was flawless. But I did not ride it at all that much, as it wasn't that practical and I kept tinkering with my other bikes. Now with the green frame I can ride it every day. And I don't need to worry about a rusty chain...

Nicely done! Very impressive. I‘d like to ask for how long you used the belt drive, but since the hub died a premature death it probably was not more than a chain would have lasted, right?

Got any photos of that? How did you make the frame?

At least I hope so. I tried to match the chainstay length either side. That should be close enough. There is this Excel sheet available through Gates (the belt manufacturer) where you can check what belt length and pulley sizes work out to which chainstay length at the correct belt tension etc...

The initial setup is a lot more involved. The belt needs to run absolutely straight. I ended up measuring the front pulley's position from the center of the seat tube and positioned the rear pulley accordingly on the hub, measuring from the hubs end cap and subtracting that to get the...

I spoke to a frame builder. Rear triangle misalignments can be dealt with easily. But it seems the front triangle is also misaligned. And that is impossible to correct with his means. I got the frame from a distant friend, who got it from his father-in-law. The original forks are missing. As...

It’s done. The belt drive is fairly impressive. Feels rock solid and very efficient. The frame itself seems to be out of alignment, though. Possibly due to the coupler having been inserted. The issue is fairly complex and tricky to explain without the bike at hand. Also the fenders rub when I...

It’s been my first time using spray paint. I‘ll spare you the details. But at least it‘s more green than before. That was the goal, mostly. Piecing together the driveline and adjusting the „belt line“ went much better. Next step will be mudguards.
