rBoTM December 2011 - Nominations Please

I spy an under inflated front tyre on the Massi!

    Merckx Decals - Typeface?

I've never seen a font similar to that and I've spent a life time looking at them! You could have a go at tweaking some of Neville Brody's early fonts (think Face Magazine logo) but to be honest a good graphic designer could swiftly reproduce it as vector artwork in Illustrator. I'd be tempted...

    The Complete Cyclist

Like this? :D http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb22 ... /joint.jpg A bit of tech drawing with some good old fashioned airbrushing! The CAD remark was due to an animation I found, but it wouldn't link on here.

    The Complete Cyclist

Old Ned, you're right...must have been having a senior moment! The Sturmy Archer illustrations reminded me of geared unicycle hubs, which I still can't get my head around either. The CAD animation doesn't help much, IMHO!

    The Complete Cyclist

I'd love to see some more too (I trained as a technical illustrator...many years ago). Am I correct in thinking he also wrote a book of cycle routes around England, or did I completely imagine this? I'm sure I saw something on telly ages ago with someone retracing his route on his old bike! :?

    Crescent Steel Racer SOLD

LOL! Just checked the college out on Google Maps...not much changed in over 25 years, even 'The Plume of Feathers' is still there! :D

    Crescent Steel Racer SOLD

I'd guess from a Swedish student at the Camborne School of MInes. There were quite a few of them there, back in the day!

    1987 Peugeot Triathlon Racer

All the components look correct for an 86/87 Pug. My '86 Pug Comete has exactly the same parts, apart from having Mavic Velotech rims, which have are a rounder rim profile. http://cyclespeugeot.com/images/1986_Pe ... tions1.jpg Peugoet changed from Stronglight to Nervar between 86 & 87

another purchase.. A Gazelle Champion Mondial

+1! The stuff is evil - over time it creeps across any surface, including the floor of a paintshop!!!

    Suspension?

You just have to learn to bunny hop at high speed - with practice you'll be able to fly over anything in your way. I've done thousands of miles around THE crappiest of UK roads (Central London) and I'm still on my original 1986 700cx20 rims!

Got my interest now...yet another retrobike/retro kitcar fan?!!! :) Photo's please!

    1980-1981 ALAN compettizione

That frame looks lovely! IMHO, I wouldn't get too obsessive about contemporary components - its an ageless design, so anything beautiful and shiny would suit best ...I'd go for a polished Mavic Starfish crank for maximum impact! Take the scarmongery with a dose of salt if you intend to use it...

    What is this? Japanese??

I don't know what it is, but I like it! Isn't that the old Dura-Ace logo on the top tube?

This is a bike to sell your family for ... and some :-)

Engineering gone "perfect", with clear coating by a blindfolded four year old...check out the orange peel on the undersides! This is not engineering gone "perfect" - it is the result of some idiotic CAD/CAM 'engineer'* that has no respect, or sense of, aesthetics and the perfect line...

    rBOTM October - The Voting

In my defence, I did go back and add photos of the completed bike in the original submission thread! The seat is perfectly horizontal - which suits my riding perfectly (though the camera angle didn't help) and it's now my daily commuter, so it can be ridden!

    Peugeot Mirage now with photo's

Looks like you just got yourself a nice bargain bike! A very ropey looking Comete frame went for £100 this evening!!!

rBoTM October - Submit your Winner!

Peugeot Comete OK, so I've seen the posts about lack of pedals, poor photography etc. and decided my photo didn't do the bike justice! The weather was perfect tonight on my way home, so I couldn't help but make some bike porn. The restoration was on very small budget (around £59), as...
