Hi Dan, thinking about it, I'm pretty sure it wasn't 97 I bought it, it must have been 98 or even 99. It came with an RST suspension fork (maybe the shop replaced its original rigid fork, my husband suggested) and the the shop definitely told me it was a Clockwork... Hope you get to the bottom...

I bought it from Noah's Bikes near Stroud, and liked the orange colour, it could possibly have been 1997 but I think 98 most likely - can't remember that far back! I'm not far from Bath.

It's definitely a Clockwork. The top tube decal has rubbed off apart from the first 'c'
