    Carlton headbadge

Molly the cat says I need to get a headbadge fitted here pronto! This was a late seventies Circuit, with the blocky black and white sticker, but I think I'd like a metal "cycling man" headbadge to replace that - certainly a metal headbadge of some sort. Have a rummage in your spares box, and...

    Faggin Campione del Mondo

When I was deep in the broken Carlton pain cave last year (viewtopic.php?f=23&t=399314) my dad called and said that he was clearing out the bike bits that he had left, and he wondered whether I'd like any of them? He reminded me that among the clean and carefully boxed components was a frame...

Carlton Circuit to postmodern faux randonneur

I made a series of horrible bike purchases a little while ago (and when I say "a little while ago", I mean about ten looooong years ago) and the bikes in question have followed me around ever since, stuck in a kind of limbo as a result of me not being able to admit to myself that buying them was...

    36 hole 1970s hubs

Hello all, I am looking for some reasonable quality but not too high end hubs for an old Carlton frame. The frame is nothing special, and it will get well used - so I’m hoping to build the wheels from components that I don’t feel guilty about using through the winter. Ideally I’d like high...

Lovely Peugeot Super Competition - Ebay

Did anyone on here get this astonishingly pretty Peugeot Super Competition? £56 until the last minute of the auction, and probably still a bargain at its final price of £110. I had a sweaty palmed bid at about 22 seconds to go, but quickly got left behind

    Shimano Crane / Titlist / 1st generation Dura-Ace

Hello all, I'm after a mech hanger bolt for a Shimano Crane rear mech, as the chrome plating on mine is shot. I think the same bolt was used in Ist gen Dura-Ace and Titlist mechs too. Let me know if you have the bolt (or even the whole mech) going spare. Many thanks.

    Campag Chorus 8 speed

Can anyone tell me what the biggest cog that an 8 speed Campag Chorus rear derailleur can handle, and the smallest cog that the front derailleur can manage?

    Build me a bike

So me, the missus and our girls moved over to Scarborough last autumn. And up til now, I have been mainly getting my riding fix from the lovely, empty roads and the Cinder Track ( http://thelangsett.blogspot.co.uk/2015_ ... chive.html) between Scarborough and Whitby. But I was having a look at...

    Replacement for tanklike British Eagle

I have just busted my pub bike / hack British Eagle Inferno, mangling the drop outs in a massive drive train fail while climbing a Welsh hill. I am looking for a replacement - a big, British, not-quite-a-mountain-bike that takes cantis, seven speeds out back and with Reynolds 501 or better...

    Timewarp BSA Tiour de France

There is no possible way I can justify spending £95 on this, but someone definitely should - it looks brand spanking new: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/old-vintage-r ... 2a3b900500

    Arrrgh! Freewheel removal hell...

I've got a couple of mid seventies Shimano freewheels which take a splined freewheel removal tool to get them off the hub. So far, so good.... I've got a Park FR-4, and that is too big. Looking on Park's website, the FR-1 - which is for Shimano freewheels - is even larger in diameter. Can...

    27 x 1 1/4...

... rear wheel. Nothing fancy needed, but it needs to be in good shape as it's for my riding to work bike. The bearing race collapsed on the old wheel...

    Bank holday weekend: What do...

...you all have planned, biking wise? I'd like to start the thread off with a bang, but I haven't got beyond the dream combination of exercise and sloth that is rolling down to the curry house on my Claud Butler to pick up tonight's takeaway...

    The Cycle Show

http://www.itv.com/itvplayer/video/?Filter=323163 Has anyone given this a go? I've been really enjoying it. I loved the Eddy Merckx interview, adn will definitely be calling Eddy by his first name, now that I've seen him on the telly and all...

    Goldie's Majorcan holiday snaps

Me, Mrs Goldie and the little one have just got back from a week in Majorca. Mrs Goldie arranged the holiday, so it wasn't planned as a sun kissed excursion to a cycling nirvana, but that's kind of how it turned out... We stayed between Port de Pollensa and Alcudia, which are at opposite ends...

    Tubs - can anyone recommend...

...a nice quality, period looking 36 hole rim? My Aerospace Pro wears clinchers now but would have had tubular tyres originally and I'd quite like to build up a set of wheels that'll take tubs so I can run either.

    Chains - one quick question

Would it be possible to use a 3/32" chain on a chainwheel built for 1/8"?
