Back in 1993 while working at Western Cycle in Edmonton AB, I put down a deposit and was working on making payments on a late 1992 build GT Zaskar 18" frame.
As will happen, life got in the way, and I had to cash out my funds for the frame for "adult stuff". Honestly I can't remember even what...
A buddy of mine here in Victoria has the following: a 20" 1993 GT Zaskar (serial: 08930061). Single owner its whole life.
Obviously it is not in the greatest shape, but no cracks on the frame. I will be doing an in person look at it in the next week or so and will grab better pics at that time...
Hoping this is not a repeat thread... but as I look to my '92 Rm Vertex build I am pondering which seatpost.
Honestly I am kinda done... at a blah point with the Syncros posts. Yes They are amazing especially for the era.
But what else did everyone run/love back in the day.
Between 89 and 92...
Good buddy asked me this morning which one I would get as he can only invest in the one.
He did joke about buying both and selling me the one he doesn't keep (can't say as I object to that idea too much).
DeKerk is a 1995 in mint condition
Bontrager is a 93 to 95 but has had the seat stays...
Well, ate the bullet this morning.
Been hunting for one for a few years.... most I see are heavily used/beat-to-hell or tan sidewalls.
From Italy shipping to Canada.... a pair of black wall NOS Smoke Lite - 1.9 tires.
Only cost me $194.768 CDN with exchange and shipping.
One will be a...
Am looking to trade my '94 Stumpjumper FS M2 frame for this at my local used parts shop.
Toptube measures 22.5" which the Kona catalog suggests it is a 17" frame.
Centre of BB to top of seattube measures 19" (17" to centre of TT)
Serial: F1021959
Someone has added a cable guide to the top tube...
Yeah Yeah Yeah, I know....
But IMHO it is way better than the Gavin Flexstem.
I am finding these 55 year old wrists and hands (each wrist broken twice, each finger at last twice, most three times) are taking a beating with a rigid fork on my Ritchey.
Pavement and hardpack groomed trails are...
Still stunned this has been up for a week and someone has not scored it. On FB Marketplace.
Located in Vancouver BC Canada

Any Basso gurus out there?
My good friend who owns a shop, got donated this Basso.
52cm from C2C
Full Campy with Cinelli bars & stem.
Any idea on year and model?
And no he, nor I have any idea on the value of it.
Yes, am considering it for myself.
I assume this is something that can be fixed....
Anyone know of someone in BC, ideally on the island who can do so?
1994 Mongoose IBOC Pro SX frame (yes it is going to be for sale) - 19"
First I freely admit Abba is a guilty pleasure of mine, hence the name for her, Frida.
Second - here is a thread on these bikes I started a few weeks back:
https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/the-canadian-team-chance.495143/
What started out as a pick up for a friend has ended up with me...
Some bikes we just dream of owning....
Back in 1992 for myself that was the steel 1992 Rocky Mountain Vertex. I ended up with a RM Experience instead.
Working in a shop that sold RM's, I eyed the two in the store I worked in, but even with a pro deal I couldn't afford one at the time.
We only...
Okay, so for starters I am well aware these frame-sets were not made by Chris Chance or Fat Chance.
A few days of searching the web, here is what I have found.... and I will be the first to admit this all my be BS or myth.
"Its one of Chris's side projects. Canadian brand (owned by Veltec)...
As a professional photographer I have some very nice aka very expensive camera gear.
Traditionally I have used one of my Lowepro AW backpacks to carry my body and a lens or two. This has worked well for a couple of decades now, and when doing mild off road with the MTB is kind of the only real...
So, as the title suggests....
Which to choose? I own both in great shape...
Is one better suited to actual off road VS. casual riding?
The Bomber legs colour wise (black with blue stickers) match one of the frames (Trek) I may use, but that is seriously the last reason to select.
Bikes...
I freely admit to being one of those weirdo types when it comes to engineering and such. As an artist I appreciate aesthetics and lines as well as form following function.
Back in he earl '90s when I worked in shops and the Softrides starting showing up, I fell in love with the look and ride of...
First off.... anyone able to confirm the year?
I believe it is a 1991, but may be a 90 or 92. Does NOT have the wishbone rear stays.
My first Equipe did have the wishbone rear stays and I am sure that was a 1990, so maybe this is a 91?
Digging through catalogues I am now of the opinion that it...
While searching for an older set of Deore cranks for a build for a good friend, I came across a '91 KHS Montana Frame/Fork/Deore Cranks/Deore DX Pedals with headset for $40.xx CDN.
Can't exactly say no to that at that price eh.
I have never owned or ridden a KHS and this is the first Montana...
I see that WTB is offering the Velociraptors again...
Anyone have any real world experience with these?
I noted they do not offer different compounds (semi-firm & firm) and no Kevlar bead option like back in the 90s.
Am I better offering trying to locate some mint NOS? I do have access to a...
