Wanted - Good quality MTB wheels

Would like top quality set of wheels (rims, hubs & spokes please) to fit my 1988 Saracen Tufftrax. Originals died a while back and cheapo replacements not going to be up to the job long term. Ideally, I would like wheels fitted with a 6-speed cassette/freewheel but will accept 7 speed...

Hi, Anyone got an old Carradice Super-C Handlebar Bag mounting frame (wraps around stem and cradles bag)? Still got the bag but no bracket/frame! Tried Carradice but they have changed mounting on newer models and they tell me it is not compatible with my older bag! Any help...

    1988 Tufftrax

Finally got to ride my restored Tufftrax today - a lovely smooth 25 mile ride (but hard going into the headwinds here today)! Thanks to Gil_m for the new (old style) decals - they finish it off a treat. Not totally original by any means - so difficult to source all old parts at reasonable...

Wanted - wheels for 1987 Saracen tufftrax

Any help greatly appreciated! I have a superb 1987 Saracen Tufftrax but unfortunately both original wheels recently gave up the ghost (one axle bent, the other rim bent and multiple spokes broken) and not economic to fix. I have recently acquired some cheapo wheels and rims which work fine...

    Orange P7 - re-nickel plating OR lacquering?

Hi all, Just acquired a superb example of a nickel finished Orange P7 and want to preserve finish as long as possible (I've read horror stories about nickel finish deteriorating over time). What I want to know is :- 1. Does anyone know of anyone capable or re-plating (for future...

    Saracen Tufftrax - 1988 (recent re-build)

Recently re-built Saracen Tufftrax. 1988 U-brake model. 22" frame (I think) - I am 5'10" and it is a comfortable ride but not a lot of step-over room! Frame and forks recently powder coated to high standard. Runs really well and is very light and nippy. Only selling as I need room to...

Road Bike to Cyclo-Cross Bike conversion - is it possible?

I have a 90's Raleigh M-Trax 6000R which runs great on the road and was a real cheap option to get into road bikes. However, in order to stay alive round where I live (heavy traffic on one main road) it's safer to use quiet roads but these are linked by dirt tracks (unsuitable for skinny...

Wanted - bits for my re-built '88 Saracen Tufftrax

A tall order I know, but does anyone have either original Saracen bars (high and wide) or equivilent for my recent 1988 rebuild? The bars I have at the moment are cheapo jobs which work OK but look naff! I'm also after the original front cantilever brakes - the V's I fitted from my scrap box...

    Raleigh M-Trax 6000R - re-sprayed & re-built

Recently bought a s/h M-Trax 6000R road bike (Reynolds 501 tubing) at bargain price but the plastic coating on the paintwork was peeling and looked naff! Decided on a strip down and new powder coat and different colour - here is the finished article! Here are some pics :-

    1988 Saracen Tufftrax

Just re-built my second Tufftrax. It's not completely original but was more concerned about a cheap, useable bike than spending a fortune on bits! I already have a 1987 Tufftrax in almost totally original condition and used this as the basis for the '88 model - not bad for an initial £30 frame...

Powder Coating in East Anglia region

This may be of use to anyone in the eastern region considering shotblasting and powdercoating. I am in the process of restoring a Saracen Tufftrax (1988 model) and have just had my (originally, very rough looking) frame and forks blasted to bare metal and then powdercoated. The end result is...

1987/1988 Saracen Tufftrax (chainstay u-brake model)

Bit of a long shot but does anyone have a Tufftrax in very good condition they are looking to sell? I'm after a near mint example (a tall order I know!) with frame size 18"-21". Thanks in advance.
