Bought a c2000 GT Tempest with 8 speed rear cassette... chain, cassette and chainrings were all pretty battered... middle chain ring was so worn it was unusable, and the rear cassette regularly jumped/slipped... So I've invested in new Shimano Acera chainrings, shimano chain and shimano HG41...

Breaking Clockwork (91): Deore LX, STX RC, Pace RC35...

As the frame is rotting around the bottom bracket I’ve just stripped down all the parts from my old Orange Clockwork (c1991) and I’ll attempt to flog all the parts I can to raise funds for next bike... The prices I’ve listed are best guesses from a peek on fleaBay and a few searches here...

Rusty, cracked frame... bottom bracket removal

I have a c91 Orange Clockwork... Anyway, I was having a wee tinker t'other day when I noticed to my horror that there's a "rusty crack" poking through the paint at the base of the main down pole, just above the bottom bracket... :( I've been advised to 1) remove the bracket and...

    Wear your helmet...??

Not that most people need telling, but for those who still don't wear one, the law may take a slightly dimmer view on non-helmetters to those that 'lid-up'...* http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/b ... gal-status *however the choice is entirely yours, the views expressed in the attached...

Wanted - Ideas for stem and handlebars - Orange Clockwork 91

Realised whilst riding this weekend that for comfort and a better ride I need to have much higher handlebars that are a little further back too... (current geometry's nice for fast riding on the road, but no good on the downhill) I have a 1" threaded headset with the original headset and...

    PACE RC35, different styles...

I've recently got hold of a couple of pairs of PACE RC35s, taken them to bits and noticed that there's quite a difference between the 2 set ups. Piston / Elastomers One set has a pair of threaded metal bars that screw into the end of the pistons through two of the elastomers (which are...

Seat stuck - replacement (Orange Clockwork)

The bolt that holds my saddle in position has come a little loose, and I can't tighten or loosen it... therefore it's prone to slipping forward and backward or even changing angle... I've tried the old allen key stamping and hammer tapping and WD40 and I think it's just stuck fast...

    Freehub - repair or replace?

For info - my bike's a 92 orange clockwork with shimano rear hub... (original I think). Other day I noticed some slight roughness/grind coming from my rear wheel , so I took apart and re-greased the bearings... not sure they needed it as that's when I noticed it was the freehub that's a bit...

    How big are my balls?

I was just taking things apart, cos I like doing that sort of thing... and was removing the headset from my c92/93 clockwork when I discovered that the bearing race isn't enclosed, most of it fell on the (dirty) floor, recovered some of the ball bearings, lost some, the plastic guide that they...

GOT - Suspension Forks for Orange Clockwork (1991)

A'noon all! Been using a Clockwork (given to me by a mate in 98) for many moons as a commuter bike with the odd bit of light offroad, but starting to wander down more bumpy routes and the residual wrist/elbow/brain shake is doing me in - time to put some of that suspension on the old beastie...
