I have a Rock Shox SID with a steerer tube too short. If I put it on my bike it would poke out of the head tube by only 15mm. So can't even clamp a readily available steerer extender there. Any fix for this or I need to find another fork?

Hi, trying to service this Rock Shox Rake 44 (that's what's stamped on it). I got so far as removing the springs but stanchions won't come off. I tried re-insering the bottom bolts and tapping them but nothing. How do you take this apart???
