Tommy Simpson memorial ride in Co. Durham - any interest?

Hi folks, in recent years there's been an annual memorial ride and general gathering in Nottinghamshire; it's a great chance to get together lovers of vintage and classic bikes https://glorydays.cc/events/tom-simpson/. I've been talking to the organisers Chris Sidwells, about the possibility of...

Identify this seat post & clamp

Hi All, I hope you can help. This seatpost is stuck. In trying to get it out, I cracked the saddle rail clamp. If I can find a replacement clamp it can be ridden but I don't know what it it is. Anyone know what I am looking for and where I might find it?

Spotted FS in Co. Durham - very original Raleigh

Anyone in the NE of England looking for an Eroica ride may want to stop by at the antiques/2nd hand shop in the old church at Dipton... I don't think this is anything special (Hi-ten steel) but it looks all original. The guy who owns the shop says it's a private sale and the bloke wants £120. I...

    Obscure 3-bolt chainset

Hi combined brains of RetroBike, I can't find any info on this 1950s crankset. It is engraved with the word RACELITE and came with a Gnutti BB axle. I have measured the PCD at 118mmm but all ifno on 3-bolt cranks suggest 16 is more likely, could this just be margin of error? It needs re-chroming...

An Ernie Clements, could it be?

It was my late stepfather-in-Law's, from way back in the '50s and is pretty much all original but I don't know what it is. I'm sure he told me once it was built by Ernie Clements but I just can't quite remember. Anyone fancy a guess? Seat stays wrap around the top of the seat tube. The lug at...

    A bit of a CAD

2 Peugeot CAD's in my life, not that they're anything special but they seem to hang around me. This one was new in 1993 and my only road ride for years. It now lives with my brother. It always makes me think of Battenburg cake: This one came to me a couple of weeks ago. The old boy selling it...

    Scrapyard challenge - Carlton build

Hi All, I found this 1979 (I think...) Carlton frame at Recycke y' Bike in Newcastle. It included the transmission and brakes but no fork. I'm not too sure what frame it is - it had no rack mounts and side pull Weinmann 500 brakes. Now it looks like this: I didn't set out to do a...

    Carlton or similar fork

Hi all, first post! I am putting together an old Carlton but it doesn't have a fork. It's a 531 frame built in Worksop in 1979. If anyone has anything suitable I'd be very grateful. Ideally a Carlton but anything that'd take a 27" wheel would be considered. Thanks!
