Massive road parts sale - More reductions!!

Big reductions below, these are the final drops, anything left will either go on eBay or to a cycle jumble later this year. I’ve had to change my policy on posting large items, as the last few sets of wheels I’ve sent I have lost considerably on the shipping. I’ve also moved the sold items to...

Ammaco Silver Star complete bike and Ammaco Freestyler frame

Ammaco Silver Star. I’ve owned this from new (some time in the mid 80’s as I recall) but it doesn’t get any use now, and I need the space. Cranks, wheels, bars, frame and seatpost are all original, the stem is a period replacement, as are the grips and the saddle. The callipers and levers may or...

To refinish or not to refinish - Geoffrey Butler

Here are a few pictures of my 60's Geoffrey Butler. I bought it off the original owner and I have had it for 10 years, often as my only working road bike, and the time has come to take it off the road and do some restoration. The finish is very faded in places, and there are numerous little...

    Sachs/Peugeot question

I've picked up a road bike for my other half as a christmas present, a Peugeot with Sachs Aris rear mech and shifters, an 8 speed block, and a Shimano front mech. The current shifters are downtube mounted, and I would like to change over to brifters for her, but what is going to index with...

WTD. Campag Bottom bracket and headset parts

I have some incomplete Campag bottom brackets and headsets, and need some parts, as well as complete ones. Gran Sport, Record, Chorus, from 60s/70s up to mid 90's or so, they must have some life left, but don't have to be mint, or all that pretty necessarily. Especially need is a cup and cone...

Swap - need a smaller frame

I picked up a Battaglin, late 80's model, Identified as columbus SL in the attached thread: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=104360&highlight= Now, it's a 60cm, and while I could ride it - I have just enough standover at 6', it is a little large for me, so if anyone has a...

    Syncros stem issues

I've go a Syncros quill stem on one of my bikes and it won't clamp up tight over the bars, meaning it's probably a 26mm stem (I'm assuming the bars are 25.4mm) something I didn't realise (or expect from a MTB stem Any solutions? The only one I can think of are either coke can shim or a new...

    Ammaco ??? Identification needed

I have just picked this up from storage, I bought it around 10 years ago as you see it here, not really knowing what it was, but it appears to be an Ammaco, possibly a Freestyle Pro? Can anyone clarify? It would be great if it is - I always wanted a freestyle pro as a kid, ended up getting an...

    Bargains - but what cassette/freewheel?

Picked up some boot fair bargain wheels today, C-Record wheels on Mavic GP4 purple label, Shimano 105 on GP4 red label, a 600 front on a GP4 red label, a tub rimmed fixed/free l/f rear and a Normandy l/f rear with clincher. All for £5!! Anyway, the C-record wheels have a 6 speed block on...

    Mystery frame...

I picked this up a while ago for very little, really because I needed the Campag NR chainset that was on it, it also came with a Record/Mavic Tub rear wheel and a Nuovo Valentino rear mech, plus some high end SR bars and Ti/alloy stem. Most of it was filthy, and there are quite a few rust spots...

    New purchase - Battaglin

I was at a cycle jumble the other day and picked up this frame, complete with Campag BB and headset. I wasn't looking for a frame TBH, but couldn't resist it! Now I can put a vague date on it from a little bit of research, it's definitely post 87, and the 130mm rear spacing probably puts it...

    Opposite of a skip find

A friends dad was clearing out his house, and threw his old, but barely used Carlton from the late 50's/early 60's in the skip. By the time my mate found out, it had gone. Gutted.

    Fork length calculation

I need to buy a couple of sets of forks for 2 frames I have, and I need to work out what length of fork I need. Obviously I know what size the headtubes are, but how much do I need to allow for the headset, both top and bottom? Any ideas?

New purchase - but what is it? Opinions?

I spotted this in a local secondhand shop, and as I don't have a running modern road bike (why am I trying to justify it...) I succumbed to temptation. Seems good value, although not astounding at £150, plus they chucked in a set of spd pedals for me. Spec is mainly Shimano 600, with cranks...

    1960's Geoffrey Butler

In completly unrestored condition, although it will need a re-enamel in the future I think, the paint just isn't good enough. Mainly Campag Gran Sport, with a Stronglight type 49 chainset and weinmann brakes. I'm pretty sure the wheels are a later replacement, but they look the part.
