xt 732 rear mech cable tensioner bolt

Hi, I managed to strip the thread on the cable tension bolt on my xt732 rear mech yesterday. The bolt is seated in the mech with a square section base, onto which you screw the nut to tension the gear cable. Any body got a spare one or a knackered mech with a functioning bolt? Thanks, Sam

    Upgrading brakes?

As I think about swapping from my all weater mtb commuter to my champion mondial as the weather gets better (optomistic). I rode it today and really noticed HOW much worse the 1978ish brakes are, compared to the vbrakes. I thought, "this is a bit daft: father of 2 rolling around with 30 year old...

    Diamond in the rough..

Cycling through town the other day my eye was caught by a bike parked up by a tree. A super nice bike sat rotting out in the street. The solid chain, airless tyres and weeds growing up through the wheels indicate it ain't been loved in quite a while...There would be a law against...

Top pull / Bottom pull mech.. which is which?

Maybe this can go in the F.A.Qs. Assuming it gets answered. I am a bit confused about the difference between top pull and bottom pull front mechs. A bottom pull mech has the cable running under the bottom bracket. That is clear. A top pull: the cable runs from the top and the sleeve runs...

Crimes against seatpost clamps. Vol 1.

I bought a new bike at the weekend (I know, Elev12k, I wasn't going to, but you know how it is. It stops here though.) It has 531 tubing so the seatpost diameter should be 27.2 according to a learned chappy on Retrobike. But my new darling has a side to side internal seat post clamp area...

Help needed: identify the frame - bought in Holland.

Hi I bought this yesterday at a 2nd hand shop for 35 euro. It has a 1979 (a man on ebay says) Dura-ace gruppo with record hubs, MAFAC brake levers and OMAS headset, and lovely shaped 3t bars. At the time I only recognised the campag and dura-ace and it seemed like a bargin. Recent internet...

    I'd love a - 44t Unramped Chain Ring

I'd like to see if using an unramped no pin chain ring would stop my chain coming of on my 1x7. To fit a 4 bolt 104pcd aka deore crankset. Thanks Sam

Chainguards for 1x7s to stop the chain coming off??...

Hi I have been riding my commuter as a 1x7 for the last six months and despite using a 11-20 or something cassette and making the chain as tight as possible, the chain still falls off. Always to the outside. I would like to bolt on a chain guard to the outer ring position, but cannot find any...

    Alu frame fatigue?

Hi I bought a '91 aluminum trek frame off ebay for 10.99 on a whim and whilst pondering my next step I have noticed a couple of non random cracks or corrosion bits on the paintwork.. The main one is on top of the seat tube at the back, just below the joint. It is very straight and horizontal in...
