    Shimano Dura Ace 7400/2 cranks

Chainrings, bolts and caps not required. Not after NOS/mint. I'm after several pairs: they'll be shortened to different lengths. FYI I've been paying £35-£40 a pair. Thanks.

Shimano Dura Ace 7410 cranks c/w Tange BB

Only just bought these, but it turns out I need 7400 (or 1 or 2 etc)... 175mm long, the BB is 103mm/ISO. £45 including UK postage. In the unlikely event that someone would like to swap their 7400 (or 1 or 2 etc) for my 7410, then I'll cover your postage too!

SOLD The logos are still pretty crisp, but the clamp area would benefit from a good clean (although the stem covers the worst of it). The bends are marked from the levers, but nothing you'll notice once taped. There is a crack in the back of the shim: it was there when I bought them two years...

Campagnolo 8v Exa Drive gear table

I posted this in another thread, but thought it might be useful if it was more generally available.

    1959 Holdsworth Hurricane

I found a 1960 bike on Classic Lightweights s/n 27338, so mine (27250) looks to be 1959/60. Seems it's a Hurricane: Zephyr and Cyclone had wrapover seat stays; Monsoon didn't have pump pegs or a lamp bracket. Intriguingly the Hurricane was available (up to 1959) as fixed gear: my wheelset...

    snapped dropout: repair options?

Unshipped the chain into the spokes, which locked-up and pulled the derailleur up and into the wheel snapping the dropout in the process, along the line of the adjuster screw. It's only my beater Winter bike (1980's Raleigh, 531 main tubes, £50 for the whole bike), so I'm not too pissed off and...

servicing a 3 speed Sturmey Archer hub

I've got a little fold-up shopper for a friend, but sometimes, when pedalling quite hard, it loses drive: the pedals just spin; stop pedalling briefly and all is well again. So I figure a strip and rebuild of the hub is in order: it's not something I've attempted before. I've got some fairly...

    mid-Eighties Raleigh: Imperial or Metric?

A friend asked me to have a look at a Raleigh Cameo women's step-through she's thinking of buying; the Sturmey Archer hub is marked "86 5", so May 1986 I assume. Generally it's in good condition (except the bottom of both mudguards which are rusted through, despite the rest of the bike...

    forum suggestion: thread ignore function

Although I suppose this could be applied generally, I am thinking particularly of the classifieds sub-forum. After reading an ad and, assuming it wasn't of interest, if I could then ignore it, I wouldn't keep having to read them when they get bumped up. The memory isn't what it used to...

    50/49t 130bcd chainring

Shimano or pattern, new or used, for road double cranks. I have a 52t to swap (too much for my legs on my winter hack). Thanks.

    Mavic CXP14 vs Mavic CXP30

I'm considering a couple of wheelsets, both on 8 speed Campag hubs. In short, what is the difference between the two types of rim? Is one more robust/lighter etc than the other. When were they introduced: they are for a 1995/96 build. Many thanks.

replacement front wheels for folding bikes

Having re-invented myself as the "bike fairy", I have picked-up three folding bikes to give to non-cycling friends. They're all in roadworthy condition, but as they have chromed steel rims I would like to replace the front wheels with alloy rims. Being hub-geared it would be too expensive...

    Headset Lockring

Stripping a frame, I've found that the steerer doesn't have a flat for a D shaped lockring, nor a slot for a tabbed one. The lockring I've removed has had the tab filed off. It's an Orbit America and the forks are original and it seems odd that a reputable manufacturer would do this...

    What are these bosses for?

Can anyone tell me what the bosses on the back of the seat tube are for? Thanks.
