    Bargain for someone

These would already be mine if I lived anywhere near Wilmslow.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275715188982?hash=item4031e7e8f6:g:AtkAAOSw3m5j~K6l That Roy Swinnerton track frame must be worth around £200 on its own!

    Wanted Cinelli Mod.67 Pista Handlebars

A long shot I know, but anybody got a set of Cinelli Mod.67 Pista Handlebars they want to get rid of? Must be the Mod 67 390mm width Pistas, not the various Criterium versions and preferably the pre 1980 Cinelli crest version, although I would consider the post 1980 winged logo ones.

    Mercian 1955 Road and Path

I’ve always wanted a Flamboyant Green Mercian, especially a Road and Path, so when this frameset popped up on Ebay I snapped it up. I’m not interested in restorations as I prefer a bike to show its history, so I’ve left its patination intact and kitted it out with kit that is roundabout period...

    MKM Ultimate

Here's the next in my line up of '70's/80s Time Trial Bikes. After my previous two Emperor Sports (http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... p;t=301287 and http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... p;t=263892) this time it is an MKM Ultimate. At this moment in time I am unaware of the exact...

    Dawes Kingpin

After seeing various modified Raleigh Twenty’s, Shoppers and other manufacturers’ versions of the classic 20” wheeled utility bikes, I decided I would love to put my on slant on the genre. I began by sourcing a Pink Raleigh Shopper from a local Second-hand Shop for £10. Although I liked the...

    Bike Brands to invest in

Apologies if this has been posted previously? Seems that British Brands are not worth investing in.... https://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/7- ... d+Features Good, more for people who appreciate them for what they are, not just an investment opportunity! Steve.

    Flying Scot Tip Find

I visited my local Recycling Centre (Rubbish Tip) on Saturday and sitting outside the little on-site shop was the following.... It seemed interesting and when the chap in the shop said "We get a lot of interest in the racing bikes so we have to ask for a tenner!" I snapped it up! Once I got...

    1966 Mercian Superlight

I know some people have been following my progress as I sought to get my 1966 Mercian Superlight back on the road after it looked as if it had been left underwater for fifty years. My progress in attempting to clean up and use as many of the original parts as possible is chronicled here…...

Pecking Order Back in the Day

While attending the Southend on Sea 'Festival of Wheels' event a few weeks ago I was stopped by an elderly Gentleman named Ken Plowman, who wanted a closer look at my 1970s Emperor Sport TT bike. We had a long and very interesting chat about bikes back in the 1950s, 60s and 70s in general and...

The Gorgenzolo Special - Drillium to the extreme!

I've been looking for this for ages after a cycling colleague of mine mentioned reading it in an old copy of "The Victor Book for Boys" while on holiday back in the 1970's. He thought it was a Alf Tupper "Tough of the Track" story, but it turns out it was a one-off. So, here we have the story...

    Alf Engers Trophy

Surely this would have been given to Alf Engers himself? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/A-Engers-1975 ... Sw9GhYf5Fl If it was for his sub 50 Minutes 25 Mile record in 1978 I'd have snapped it up!

    1966 Mercian Superlight Rebuild

Welcome to the first in a very occasional series of updates as I begin the rebuild of my 1966 Mercian Superlight. As I mentioned in another thread, I acquired a Mercian Superlight and a collection of attached components that looked as if they had been at the bottom of a lake for 50 years! This...

Bikes, Bread and Wine - L'Eroica

Tonight on the Bike Channel at 8:30pm.... Bikes, Bread and Wine - L'Eroica "The story of a journey through beautiful places in Italy, Japan and England. A journey via the world's Eroiche, painted with a delicate brush: the flow of a 1980 Raleigh bike chain" Their words not mine! Might be...

1950 Macleans Featherweight Track or Path

Thought I'd share my latest build, a 1950 Macleans Featherweight Track or Path. As anyone who is aware of my previous builds will know I am a big fan of leaving frames original and proudly displaying their hard earned patina. I have tried to equip this one with parts from around the early '50s...

    1978 Emperor Sport

Here's the next in my line up of '70's Time Trial Bikes. This time it's another Emperor Sport, but still sporting it's somewhat patina'd original paintwork.... Spec Sheet.... Frame: 1978 Emperor Sport – No Tubing Stickers but would assume either Reynolds 531 or Ishiwata Tubing - Frame No. EMP...

Hi All, Anybody planning on going to watch the Cambridge to London Stage of the Tour de France as it passes by Chelmsford on Monday? A coupe of work colleagues and myself are intending to get the train out of Southend and then ride the 10 or so miles from Shenfield up to the route, hopefully...
