    Who knows the answer?

Why is every part on every bike that I have owned over the last 40 years been measured in metric, seatpost diameter, stem length, frame size, crank length, wheel spacing 126-130,etc. but bearings are measured in inches, 1/4 inch 3/16 inch ,etc. I have Italian, Japanese, and American frames...

    Robert Coble unknown year

IMG_0372_picmonkeyed.JPGIMG_0373_picmonkeyed.JPGI picked up this frame without knowing anything about it other than it was my size. From what I could find out on the internet Coble was a framebuilder in California. This appears it was custom built for someone who was a national champion as the...

    Cracked lug?

    Steel Look frames

Doe's anyone know anything about the Look steel frames raced in the 80's ? I'm sure they were rebranded but who actually made these. I believe they had English bottom brackets which would be strange in the 80's if they were built in Italy or France. I think these were only made for a short...

    Dura ace downtube shifters

I have a pair of Dura ace 7700 downtube shifters that say 8 sp or 9 sp on them, Thease are the friction or indexed model. They work perfectly on a 8 sp cassette in the index mode but when I try it on a 9 sp it skips a gear between the 13 and 15 tooth cog. I thought the 7700 model was a 9 sp...

    Lazzaretti info?

Hi, I own a beautiful fillet brazed Lazzaretti made with Deda zero tubing. In thirty years of riding , racing, and sportifs and owning probably 25 bikes of steel, aluminum and carbon, this is by leaps and bounds the best bike I've ever ridden. I know that Lazzaretti is a bike shop in Rome that...
