    Withdrawn GT Aggressor 1 18" 2001(ish) £75

Anyone fancy this? I gave it a full service a year or so ago (fully stripped down, new chain, cables & brake blocks) and it's only done about 50 miles since then. Decent 26"er: aluminium frame, Shimano Deore 3x9 gears, FSA cranks, Avid brakes, Alexrims, Tioga tyres, Rock Shox Judy TT fork...

Forks with long 1" steerer (~245mm)

I'm after some forks with a long steerer. 1" threaded, about 245mm (might be able to get away with a touch shorter). Definitely don't need to be fancy so anything considered. I'd really appreciate people rooting through their sheds if they think they've got one, otherwise an old Raleigh frame...

Help! I can't get my rear wheel on straight!

Ok, this may seem like a bizarre call for help to you old hands, but I was brought up on MTBs with vertical dropouts. Frankly, horizontal dropouts on geared bikes just baffle me, they seemed designed to introduce error into the tracking of your rear wheel. Anyhoo... I can't get my rear wheel...

    orbeas feedback thread

Slightly late post this, but I thought it worth starting a thread since orbeas seems pretty active in the classified sections. The good: I bought a Silstar crank off him back in June (2012) he gave me a good price and posted it nice and quickly and safely. Really friendly, helpful emails, he...

Freewheel washer, is it necessary? Also weird oscillations!

I've just swapped the 5-speed freewheel on my early 80's Raleigh for a 6-speed (both Suntour Perfect). It seems to fit fine with minimal derailleur adjustment, so I assume I've got a narrow-spaced "Ultra Six". When the 6-speed freewheel came off the donor bike it had a large washer/spacer 1-2m...

Rust - removing it and then preventing it

Right, my recently inherited Raleigh Royal has become my main commuter and as such has to spend the occasional day outside in the rain (apologies, but I'd rather use it than just admire it). When I got it, it had a few surface rust spots on the frame (painted) and forks (chromed) and I don't...

25" Raleigh Rapide frame and Campy bits in Shropshire

I'm quite tempted by this, but I have absolutely no way of picking it up from deepest darkest Shropshire. Hopefully somebody here will snaffle it and do it justice (or alternatively deliver it to me!) My guess is that it's one of these: http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/catalogs/R ...

Switching to aero levers - well worth it

Apologies in advance to purists, although this is only about a early-80's Raleigh Royal so not exactly that rare. I've just switched from the original Weinmann levers to a pair of Shimano R600 aero levers and I have to say that the improvement is quite substantial! These are linked to the...

Shimano or Campagnolo brake cables for Weinmann levers?

I've just been given my first road bike for many years, a Raleigh Royal from the early 80's. The brakes are fairly standard-looking Weinmann drop levers linked to Weinmann 610 centre-pull calipers. I need to replace the brake cables but I don't know whether I need shimano or campagnolo nipple...

Mystery cantis, help! (Pipe Dream/Marin Lite - alike)

I've had these kicking around for ages. I bought them when a crash bent the front cantis on my '93ish Spesh, but I then quickly changed to V-brakes so I didn't have them mounted for very long. They appear to be built on the same principle as Gravity research Pipe Dreams, with the canti arm...
