    36T Chainring for Deore LX

I'm after a 36T(ish) chainring (middle ring?) to fit a Deore LX crank from the mid '90's (I think...). It's a 5-bolt fitting, think is 104mm PCD. It's to replace the 42T ring that's fitted at the moment to make life easier for my son. I have a 32T already, but I think it's going to be too small.

    Upgrading from 8-spd to 9/10-spd

Can someone explain what's needed to upgrade from 8-spd to 9 or 10-spd? It's for my bro's Club Roost from the late '90's. It's running a single ring up front and an 8-spd cassette. It's got a Hope Ti-glide hub and disc set-up on the rear, which he's stuck with because it's not a disc frame so...

    "Hope" someone can help...

I want to build up a set of 24" wheels for the Club Roost so it's more suited to my lad. I have Hope brakes and hubs front and rear with the torsion bar for frames without caliper brackets. As far as I know, this has a different set up to regular hubs, so my question is this; can I only use...

    Single Speed - Ratios

I'm thinking (it happens  ) of turning the Zaskar into a lightweight single speed hack. What ratios are people running?

The Retro Clothing Thread - Tasteless threads alert

While digging through the garage today I found these beauties; Brand new, never worn. Not surprising really... Neoprene lined, warm and waterproof, I must have picked them up in a summer sale just before starting to work nights. So c'mon, post up your taste phails...

I need some help identifying my Hope brakes... I think they need a service (not done since, well, forever) and need to get some seals, pads and o-rings.

    Club Roost VCV

I thought I ought to split my two rides, so here's a bunch of pics of the Roost. Bought NOS as a frame set, plus BB and seatpost in '97/98 (can't remember exactly  ) and built up with parts from my ProFlex 856 mutant. Early Hope discs in Mavic 121 rims, expertly built by John Atkins...

Anything and everything needed - building a bike for my son

After insisting he wanted a new BMX for his birthday my lad has been bitten by the MTBing bug after a couple of trips to the Forest of Dean. As I just blew over 200 quid on said BMX money is tight but I'd like to build him a half decent spec bike rather than buy a budget piece of...

    24in Wheels and V-Brakes

My son wants to get into MTBs after years on BMXs and I'd like to sort him out with a decent bike that will last for a while. He's tried a 13" Trek 3700 and it's borderline. 24" wheels would help with his confidence but I'm wondering how/if V-Brakes will work/have enough adjustment? On my...

    '96 GT Zaskar LE

My current rides; The saddle was awol when I took the pics in '06, now found. It's badly in need of a decent shock, any offers greatfully received... :P All the extraneous crap has been binned, much better. 8) I've owned both from new, used to hit the Forest of Dean or Cleeve Hill...
