XT M770 Shifter - is it possible to repair?

I've got the mentioned shifter. Last Friday something inside snapped, the cable was not moving any more... I disassembled the whole thing yesterday, just to find out that it is that silver circle-shaped thing that holds the cable end in place, that broke... Is it possible to get it spare...

Sony Xperia Z smartphone - Never Used!

Hi Retros! For sale is my Xperia Z smartphone. It's that outdoor friendly model, water and dust proof. Powerful and stylish phone. It has never been used, never connected to the network, no fingerprints on it (I have not even removed it from the plastic bag it came in). I got it on o2...

Problem with shifting - SLX mech, Alivio shifter...

I've had this problem since I got my 2012 Cinder Cone: Shifting the rear gears is no problem, up and down. Only until I reach the two biggest sprockets... Then the chain and derailleur start playing funny. Clicking the shifter from the smaller sprockets up there is "one click - one shift"...

DIY Ice Shoes - winter vs myself 0:1

On my commute to work (big part of it are country lanes) there is a long hill, which is constantly wet. If the temperature drops below 0, you can imagine how icy it is... I have only got one Marathon Winter tyre, on the front wheel, so the rear end has no chance to climb on ice. Last week I...

Cheeky one - can someone lend me a wheel?

Yeah, as in the title... I'm about to send my rear wheel for repair/replacement under a warranty (I posted about a crack in a rear hub some time ago), but the shop say it takes 7-10 days to get it back. However I need my bike for daily commuting (yes, I have only one...), 7-10 days is a lot too...

Crack in a rear hub racer...

Last night I overhauled the rear hub on my bike for general maintenance. It's a Shimano M475 Disc. When I cleaned everything nicely I noticed a crack on the racer (non-dirve side)... :( It is noticeable under finger. The crack is on the outside part of the hub (the part that also works as a...

It there anyone here from Plymouth - Torbay area who has a van and wouldn't mind to earn some cash for transporting a fridge from Plymouth to Paington? :D My Mrs is making a purchase on eBay, and probably she thinks I can carry that on my bike... 8) Please let me know, the item's auction...

    How tight front QR skewer?

My new Kona is my first bike with disc brakes. Does the front QR skewer really need to be soooo bloody tight to avoid the wheel side-movement after few heavy brakings? When I fit the wheel in a way I used to do on my old bike (with rim brakes) the front wheel changes its position after a ride...

    Kona Cinder Cone 2012

The photo was taken yesterday, during a long 115km ride - this is why there are all the lights, bag, mudguards fitted  I've had the bike for 2.5 months now. Every ride proves it's the best bike I've ever had 8)

    Waterproof shorts - awesomeness!

I bought a pair of some Madison Tempest shorts few weeks ago. I hadn't really had a chance to properly test them until this morning, when the rain was really annoying (small drops with strong wind). Normally in a scenario like this one I used to arrive to work with all the equipment down there...

Peanut butter and Soreen - I'm addicted...

I don't mean I like it. I could say that maybe two, three weeks ago. But now it's not that any more... My average intake is 2 loafs of Soreen with plenty (very plenty!) of peanut butter. It's Friday, 11:30, I have already had one loaf. Before I had my 15 miles ride to work I had a bowl of...

Dartmoor (B. Tracey, Ashburton) nite ride this weekend?

Anybody up for a night spin instead of sleeping this weekend (21 or 22.09)? We could meet in Ashburton, Buckfastleigh, Bovey, South Brent etc. By "night" I mean around 9-10PM. Haven't got a specific route yet, first I need to know if anybody wants to do it ;)

    Am I a traitor?

OK, I used to have the bike of my life. It got stolen 8 days ago. Marin Indian Fire Trail 1993, build 99% from the parts I bought here. I build it to the point where it became my ultimate bike. And it was my only bike, used daily for commuting (approx 15 miles both ways), then tyres swap for the...

Silver Marin IFT 93 stolen - South Devon

Total depression here. My baby, Indian Fire Trail 93 has been stolen this afternoon... Location: Heathfield, Newton Abbot. Mother*uckers chose it over new specialized, cannondale, some nice road bikes... I'll upload photos and spec later on, maybe someone will come across it. F*ck, I...

Nike ACG SPD shoes, size 11 (I'd say 10...) - SOLD

Bought them on eBay few weeks ago. Lovely shoes, I wish they fitted me... It says it's size 11 UK, but I can definitely say it is 10, or 10,5 max (I must admit, my toes are kinda huge...) - this is the reason I'm re-selling them :( I had them on for two rides on dry road rides, hoping they'd...

    My private Pavarotti...

There is that dude living four houses away from mine. He feeds seagulls every morning. It's annoying, as they are hordes of these beasts. But that's nothing. Few weeks ago he discovered he is an opera singer. Tenor. Every afternoon he opens all the windows is his house and all you can...

A-head stem on a quill system?

I saw this bike last night, outside a supermarket. What's interesting is the a-haed stem on an 1" quill system. Is it some sort of connector attached to the steerer, or did the owner simply cut the old stem off, leaving just the vertical tube?
