I have an Orange P7 from around 2000, Ive looked on the orange list for sizes but it says the frame should be shimmed. Could I get away with not using a shim? Or can someone tell me why the shim is needed and I will try to find one the right size with the correct post. Thanks

I need a new seatpost for my atx1, the one in it has been cut off above any info stamped in it and I dont have any calipers to measure, with a rough ruler measurement it looks about 31mm but im sure its something like 30.8 or 30.9. Can anyone please confirm so I can order a new one. Thanks
