What a piece of art, and looks like it has been used as intended. I keep seeing additional details each time I look. Stunning.
What are those pedals? I’ve never seen them before.
I have to say, I struggle with this as well. I'm not sure I've ever really ridden on the drops on my gravel bike. My body just doesn't work like that after 30 years of MTB. Hoods all the way...
I also struggle with the width of the bars - so used to something wide and twirly, but drops tend...
If the front hope hub isn't cracked (it will be though won't it) then there's your £40 back straight away. Let alone the frame and fork.
Looks massive though! Best £40 you'll probably ever spend on a bike.
Cantis open up a whole world of anodised trickery, not lest as cable hangers are one of my favourite things in Chill Pill form - but (shoot me now) they will realistically never match the V's.
That said, I'm a sucker for a PC5 lever and some 987's. We all rode cantis quite happily until we saw...
In a world where the question of "repairable or not" comes down to how much you're willing to spend - I'd say thats fixable by a framebuilder. Might be a bit "involved" but nothing's not-doable - and might need to do both bosses at the same time to get them identical.
It'd need a respray...
I have to agree with the above.
Thats a pretty unusual colour for a C16 and it looks absolutely bloomin fab in that last pic you've put up. Strip it to F&F and hang it somewhere as a memory. Flog some of the finishing kit and you could still have a ton in your pocket at the end of it. You'll...
Assuming it's a 1 1/8 "steerer" on the converter then I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use any stem as long as it was the same as the steerer - you might need some spacers as that Azonic looks chunky AF. I've got a drawer full so happy to karma them if it helps.
I'd agree on downgrading the kit on the C16 to sell. It's absolutely lovely, but the market is down at the moment. £150-£175 with lower rent kit might then realise more once the shiny stuff is sold (and XTR/Thomson would move quickly on here). Swap out post and stem for Orange (easily found)...
Thumbies were mentioned by the OP, but for me they are the pinnacle of mechanical simplicity at a time when things just worked.
I still think bar ends are a great thing. Ripe for misuse, mis-positioning and malignment, but as a concept to get a different hand position/weight balance they work...
They have done for a while, and may still do. I sent my P7 back to them to be resprayed. They strip them and then send them back down the paint line. Can only have current paint pallette, so retro correct isn't usually possible.
This is mine
Is the seat clamp the right way round?
I believe that they changed the slot from back facing to forward facing around 1997/8 and some at that time got a disc tab. Looks like it could be a rear facing slot with the clamp the "wrong way round". No wishbone brake pip either so it's around the...
