I just picked up this Kona and I'm trying to figure out what I have. The serial number on the bottom bracket starts with F204. The previous owner purchased the bike new and according to his description the bike should be stock--he was not a bike person. But the components don't match any...

I had one of these--purchased new in the US in 1991. Same exact paint job. I believe it had all Deore DX components--definitely the hubs and cranks, pretty sure the (cantilever) brakes and levers also. It was 7 speed rapidfire. I might have a photo of it somewhere.
