1992 GT Bravado - FB Marketplace, looks clean and nice

OEM GT saddles are rather hard to find in good usable condition, I have a Viscount branded one which is very close to the GT saddle, but with a more rounded nose. Velo also do one very similar, which I suspect is mounted on the Bravado in the original post. I am quite late to the scene though...

1992 GT Bravado - FB Marketplace, looks clean and nice

All things considered, I have spent around £700 building my '92 Bravado last year. So it really depends on how much you want to spend to get something as nice as this '92 Bravado in really good condition and a 16" frame to boot! I don't regret spending what I did on my Bravado and would do it...

What mountain bikes did you own BITD?

I wish I could have kept all the bikes I owned back in the day, but I wouldn't have had the space for it! The Peugeot Anaconda was a nice bike and regretted trading it in against a then new Trek Antelope 820, what was I thinking? It was a replacement for my stolen Dawes Tracker. The Trek...

A quick preview of what's to come....1991 GT Zaskar project.

I might have to try that later, need to pick another can of paint first, lol Though from what I have seen the paint does dry nice and shiny, I am using Simoniz Gloss black, it's just got a lot of drips and over spray atm. I'll try the warm water tip next. Expect another update soon. ;)

possibly a blocked nozzle as the can was new, lol

well. so much for that, back to square one and I feel like I should just get the forks powder coated instead. Had another attempt at spray painting this morning but I could not get the can to spray, unless held upside down! What a waste of time, Argh! I am not getting any better results and...

Zaskar LE - '93 Edition - Build thread

I have some Rockshox Mags that could do with a rebuild, they came off my '91 Avalanche (the Avalanche has now got the original 2x4 GT forks fitted) I'm not likely to use, pm me for further details if you're interested...

(in the voice of Sean Locke) Whaaaaattttt?????? HOOOOOOowwwwwwww? Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy?

There's a frame for sale on eBay...Not cheap though. https://ebay.us/m/XrkX5z I am really curious how it would handle, it seems quite a stretch! 🤣 I get trolley vibes from that...twitchy at high speeds, but I could be wrong of course.

Forks are being stripped again, wasn't happy with the result so far... Will keep trying, don't want to give up on it that easy... It's a steep learning curve, haha I will succeed... eventually..

I should really have practiced on something easier than bike forks, haha

Parts That Weigh a Ton, But You Still Love 'em

The original GT Flip Flop stem, not exactly a lightweight, and most of that weight is in the double quill stem part, of course. But I love it, nonetheless..

If you were just spraying a flat object it would be easier than bike frames and forks where you have more intricate areas to consider to get good coverage. It is not as easy to keep the same distance in all areas, but that is just my inexperience talking! 😁

A quick preview of what's to come....1991 GT Zaskar project.

I was initially using Montana black paint, but sanded that down and bought some Halfords gloss black paint, same result, so, like you said I may have not been close enough, because when I spray painted a front plate of one of the stems, I had a much better result. That was sprayed much closer...

A quick preview of what's to come....1991 GT Zaskar project.

This arrived in the post today, though I did have a seat post clamp that did fit correctly, the quick release lever was a later model which didn't really look right for my Zaskar. I think this new arrival is a better fit and look to finish it off. 😁 With regards to the respray of the forks...

Looks really nice and impressive low weight, what brake levers will you be fitting as I noticed they're not there as yet?

    Who’s Zed?

The welds remind me of those found on cheap BSO's and early Raleigh bikes, like Mustangs/Lizards/Nitro, etc...except it's even uglier than those on the Raleigh's 🫣
