    Ken Taylor's Passing 06/10/2025

That's sad news indeed. Without sounding rude I thought all 3 of the Taylor brothers passed away some years ago. Ken must of had a good innings. Who would of thought some of the best frames ever made were built in a scruffy factory unit on an industrial estate in Stockton-on-Tees. The...

What's the late 90s steel frame of choice?

Eldridge Grade from 1999 was a good bike. Columbus Thron tough steel frame, could be found quite cheap.

    Kuwahara Olympia info?

This one has the same serial beginning S8100, but it screams later half of the 80's/early 90's to me with that toptube font, colourway and graphics. https://bikeindex.org/bikes/750905 The Suntour Blaze components on yours are late 80's.

On One Glory Days - Gravel E stay Doncaster

Never seen that before either. A one-off prototype that never went into production? Seller is in Doncaster near where they are based (Rotherham) - a current or ex-employee, perhaps?

    Zeus (Spain) Marmolada 57cm

Yeah, i wondered if the fork was not original. This one appears to have its original fork. For cleaning pitted/rust spots on forks, I find Vinegar, Lemon Juice and a pinch of bicarbonate of soda in a spray bottle works wonders with a scrunched up bit of tinfoil. An old wife's tale that works.

Unknown French/Franco-Italian fillet brazed frameset, 58cm

Could be a 'Minerva' - a small Belgium brand. Has a chainstay protector with that name on it. https://www.pedalroom.com/bike/minerva-18033

Unknown French/Franco-Italian fillet brazed frameset, 58cm

Possibly year 1990 due to the headtube cable guides and 126mm rear spacing? Don't think its a MecaCycle or a Paris-Tours. Mystery frame...

    Best LBS in Britain

Well this isn't the UK in the video below (its in USA), but i wish we had places like this in the UK! Tons of boxes of new and used stuff that cater to all types - a treasure trove where i could spend all day rummaging through parts! $50 dollars for a Lemond 853 road frame - f**k me, i'd bit...

    Generic off-brand hubs

I'm pretty sure the System X track hubs I've had for nearly 15 years are the same as the Formula ones, same tooling, just different branding.

    Exal rim quality

I have the LX17 26" 36 hole version laced to non-disc deore hubs on mountain bike and they have been, so far, bomb proof. Though I haven't done thousands of miles on them. Can't comment on their road rims, but SpaCycles is a reliable source with an experienced wheelbuilder and they use them.
