    Anyone into classic cars

I was about 600hrs into restoring the underside of my Impreza over the last few years, mostly done in some very intense bursts in my best mate's workshop. It was very satisfying to get it back on the road this year, with some external paint still to sort.

Marin Team Marin DH (FRS DH) - my first DH bike

A new (well, not new, but good old) X Lite PSS2 in red as I originally had pretty much completes this build. Annoyingly it wasn't that long ago that I threw out my tatty original which was missing the first inch of foam from the nose. If only I knew then what I know now etc etc.

    I gone done a thing...2002 Intense M1

While I'm going for updates on everything, this is how the M1 currently sits (the Boxer's are still wrong). I did hum and haw over some Dorados that were on eBay recently as I'd always wanted a pair but decided that I'd rather track down some old World Cup Boxxers with nickel stanchions instead...

    2005 Rotec RL9 rebuild

Thanks to a user on here I picked up some Mk1 Avid Code calipers and Juicy 5 levers (I originally had the Code 7's which had their own proprietary levers). I've swapped them onto some Guide levers for now and hopefully in time will be able to track down some 7 levers for not insane money.

    Orange 222 Team Animal Replica

I finally got some pics of this all built up, although it still needs some finishing touches, like crank bolts; The decals are still slightly annoying; no silver backing meant I had to do it myself, and it's not quite right, and the 'Orange' logo is a bit big as it's copied from the...

My first proper MTB, a 1995 Trek 850

Thanks Mark, I appreciate it. I guess I've got the advantage that a lot of the bikes I've created threads for have a lot of memories that go with them so it's much easier to write about the emotional aspect that underpins them.

My first proper MTB, a 1995 Trek 850

Back when I was a lad, and 8spd hadn't been invented, my first bike was a 20" wheeled Specialized Hard Rock Mega. It was bright red, and a mini Ned Overend lookalike, and was very, very cool to 6 year old me. And to think I could have ended up with a Raleigh Activator. Luckily a guy my dad was...

    Intense M1 identification

Nice, that's good to hear. They may not be the most advanced forks given the pace of change in DH stuff at the time, but they're worth having on the bike for sure. Just make sure they use the proper repro seals rather than the shite Enduro blue things that for a while were all that was...

    Intense M1 identification

I wouldn't change that fork, it's such an awesome period part. From memory they just screwed extensions into things to make them from stock Z1 parts so it should be possible to repair them. Speak to @Dr-Zocchi unless someone else comes out with some helpful info first.

Selling up and leaving the hobby - Your failure experiences?

I get you on this bit particularly. I hit 40 this year and still do the same stuff to a greater or lesser extent than I did twenty years ago. However, there are a number of things I still want to do in life that need a lot of fitness and that basically gives me another ten years to do them, max...

2005 Trek Top Fuel 110 - Repair and Restomod

I wasn't sure about you stripping the original paint job off but that looks mega and really highlights how clean the lines were on the original design.

    YIKES!! 245 Judy's ...CRACKED brace.

That seller seems to love putting stuff up at at least double what it's worth. Amazingly they do actually seem to sell some things.

    Refurbishing Shimano xtr m95x cranks

Powdercoating is thicker, and my experience is variable as it's so dependant on the powdercoater and whether they do detail work or industrial stuff. One option might be cerakote as it's thinner and there are a lot of greys available. Possibly too expensive for cranks but worth looking at, I've...

Pace RC200 F8 seat post removal tips.

Try using Bulldog BDX. Soak, soak, and soak again. I don't know what's in it but it's an incredible penetrant and release fluid, beats XCP/Plusgas etc by a country mile.

    2003 Intense Tazer HT

Finding a pic should be easy enough, finding the actual hub may be more of a challenge but I'll see what I can do. They're all mk1 hubs.

    2003 Intense Tazer HT

I'm going to leave this one as is just now, I was never the biggest fan of red hubs, although my Hadleys on the Rotec at least did stay red! I might however have some spare hubs sitting around somewhere if you still need them; a silver and a black front 32h Bulb and a rear 36h one in black.

Marin Team Marin DH (FRS DH) - my first DH bike

I did see that, it was a nice build and went for a good price. The X-Vert Ti were a fork I always lusted after as a kid. I don't need another one though!

    eBay: Up the Swanee?

That and people have less spare cash, or are less willing to spend cash on discretionary items, and so those sellers with stuff they've been able to inflate the prices on for the last few years are having to reduce them to more reasonable levels so that they can actually sell anything. No bad...

Is this the the earliest recorded Scottish mountain bike expedition?

Absolutely loved seeing this when my mate sent it to me. I know the Lairig Ghru and the surrounding area very well from riding, wandering and climbing so it's great to see it in a different light through the annals of history. Incidentally, despite much bollocks online, the proper name should...
