That's good to hear. Was tempted myself, just because of the finish on the cranks and price... trying to find dust caps would be at least half the cost. Will keep my eyes peeled on up and coming builds 👀

Love this thread. Retro hats off to you @robot.hebobo for trying to resuscitate (had to Google spelling of this word!) the Avocet 30. Iconic computers, but I do remember mine going caput too and I got a Specialized Speed Zone as a replacement which worked until I replaced with a Cateye...

+1 for cool dark basement storage. Bicycle Workshop in West London (sadly closed down) had some perfect pairs of amberwall Timbuk ll’s and original Smokes that had been there for 25 years and just like new/supple as you like.
