    hubless bike

I'd think the wheel rim would have to be massively strong to prevent it going out of true, and without any spokes to supports it's weight. Therefor I'd think it would weigh a fair bit more than a standard wheel, so although it looks good, it may well be a case of form over function.

Bypassing the password is a pretty easy thing to do on Windows 7, or any version of windows to be honest, and resetting the bios is not too difficult either depending on which laptop you have. Nothing is that secure with computers!

Working out what part is what! (how to ID Campag parts)

Welcome to the site, this is definitely the place to get the advice and identification you need. Sounds like you've got a good deal there, how come I can never find something like this :( What you put on the bike depends on the age of the bike and the parts, and what you want to do with it...

Changing from 7-speed to 10-speed cassette?

Hi, you might find the spacing on the back too narrow for your new wheel. 130 or 135 instead of 126mm. If this is the case and you have a steel frame, it can be "cold set" to fit your new rear wheel, or "spring" the rear apart everytime you change the wheel. This can damage the bearings if...

    Rust!!!

A good primer with Zinc in it is supposed to help prevent rust. I've used some rust killer and primer from Bilt-Hamber, seems to be good, but only time will tell. I'll post an update in 5 years time

    Falling off

The locks at Hatton are really nice, didn't realise there was a cake shop there :( I've done the full loop into Birmingham, and then back out through Edgbaston, Maypole, Dickens Heath, Hatton, and back through Knowle. There are some pretty muddy paths along the way, but it is a good ride...

    Falling off

To be honest probably a bit too fast, maybe about 12mph or so, I see the guy most mornings and he does get out of the way, so I was probably going a bit quicker than I would normally. I think it was the theatrical wipe out that sent me further up the tow path, it wasn't a straight falling off...

    Falling off

Mick, tell me about it! Their are some sections that are terrible. I wrote an email to the Canal Trust about it, and they were really prompt in getting back to me. The problem they have is funding, they are trying to get a grant from the local authority and sustrans, but I won't be holding my...

Thanks for the solution, several people at work suggested the same thing, might have to make a bid!

    Falling off

Tell me about it, I was using a helmet cam up till last month when I sent it back for being rubbish, it would have made excellent footage! I could do with the money! Everyone at work laughed at me, and said they would have laughed even more had I gone in!

Swap the chain and cassette off the other one, and buy a cheap seatpost. Less than paying for parking and petrol!

    Falling off

Cheers widowmaker, bike seems OK, gear changes are a bit iffy, I might strip the rear mech tonight and have a play. Tow paths are better than the pyscho road users on my commute into Birmingham, although 3 punctures and 1 crash in 10 days is a bit annoying.

    Falling off

So, on my way to work this morning, along the canal towpath, I see a pedestrian coming in the opposite direction. He moves over to the canal side of the path and I move over to the other side to give him plenty of room. There is a nicely graduated bank on my right, except for one bit, that looks...

    is evans the new halfords?

Never had any problems with Evans myself, but have never tried to buy "specialist" items from there. If you need bearings, don't bother with cycle stores online or anywhere else, go to an online bearing seller, just google for them. I bought bearings for both front and back hubs, grade 10...
