Wanted Hardtail 29er non or very little suspension corrected.

Hi I’m looking for a 29” hardtail size m or l depending on geometry. V-brakes is a plus. I need clearance for 2.2” tires. The main criteria is that it’s built for non or a minimum of suspension, as I would like to use a rigid fork.

    Bontrager privateer 1996

I will definitely keep the bontrager stem. I also have some Salsa but the original parts fit so nicely only problem is the shaft is pretty short so there isn’t much space to mount a child seat.

    Bontrager privateer 1996

Finally got the frame stripped and started slowly on the new build. First bit is an old CK headset, it was mounted on my old bilenky cargo bike, but low cup ended up cracking (10+ years on the streets as a messenger bike) Chris King replaced the part but the other cup is very faded and didn’t...

    1997 Bontrager Race Lite

Looks very nice, shows one more time how versatile these bontragers are! What forks are you using? Is it the 425mm tange or an shorter version? Maybe you could post a drive side shot.

    Early Bontrager Race Lite

A indy c with 63mm travel has a A/C of apx 420mm - minus 13mm for the sag gives 407mm. But same same The issues is the rake - 14mm makes a difference in how the bike feels, but it might not be a problem. I have only experimented whit it on modern mountainbikes. The pike fork comes in different...

    Early Bontrager Race Lite

But the race/race lite came in a suspension and a non suspension version right - So to replace a suspension fork you would need a bit more? Or is it just the head tube angle?

    Early Bontrager Race Lite

A rule of thumb I use, approx: 410mm for 51mm - 63mm travel. 420mm for 63mm - 80mm travel. 440mm for 80mm - 100mm travel. The thing with bontragers is that they are designed around a fork with lower rake then normal, 1.25” (31,7mm) - it might be hard to find one if it’s not a bonty, most rigid...
