Saddles - what else is there apart from Flites/Selle Italia that are cool/retro/

+1 for Ritchey Vector Plus rail, a supremely comfortable saddle which also looks good!

    Cesare Mu questionnaire

Yes confirmation here (Michael Embacher, Cyclepedia book) that frames Italian built, interesting re Brugelmann catalogue, perhaps more like the Freewheel UK catalogue then...

    Cesare Mu questionnaire

Cesare M was the in-house brand of the German catalogue firm Brugelmann (similar to the UK Littlewoods catalogue selling style, this was the 80's equivalent of browsing the internet! ) , no idea of value but looks like a decent quality bike,👍

Aero Garbage Wind Resistant a lie

Old versus modern >>There is a recent GCN video on YT showing a five time everesting ascent of the Stelvio road pass, up and down. The presenter rides a beautiful slx steel classic Pinarello for the final ascent and whinges about the gearing, weight, uncomfortable 'round' bars and so on compared...

    Today's Ride

I took was in the sun club today and out from 1pm, I kept to riding steady, shady bits under trees offered some respite from the fierce heat, saw 2 other cyclists with not much else on the roads. Almost felt a return to pandemic days... Picture of my bike resting in the shade 😎

    Deore LX shifter not working

Disconect the cable at the rear mech and then pull on the cable as you activate the gear lever, you can vary how hard you pull and should be able to feel it come back to life, whilst doing this keep flushing with Wd40 Gt85 etc. Once working spray with white grease. Good luck!

    Today's Ride

That looks like the Rivington road :D, very beautiful area and not far from where I used to live over toward Preston. I used to love cycling (on and off road) round there and also going to the Barn cafe. Great road for cycling and the surface looks to be much iimproved too! The memorial pictures...

I think £150 or so is pretty good as Ultegra 9 and decent rims & finishing kit. If the bike is going to be a rider for you and the spec hits the spot then I would go for it 👍

    Anti-theft parts bin sh*tter.

As others have said there are those who will steal anything, several years ago I commuted with a scruffy Raleigh hi tensile road bike with steel rims etc. I 'cascaded' old used parts onto this bike to keep it going. One of these parts was a knackered Suntour rear mech which had pivots so worn...

    1991 Giant Coldrock frame specs?

I have a slightly newer '92 Coldrock which is my work bike. Very old school MTB frame with a horizontal top tube! The Cromoly 4130 tubing gives a good reasonably comfy ride on the road with plenty of clearance for guards and a 4-point rack. The longish wheelbase of 42.5" of my 19.5" frame makes...

    Job interview

Firstly >> Well done! Secondly >> It has been some time since I worked in the bubble that is cycle retail and I presume that 'vining' does not mean the end of day shop tidy, actually I would be laughing too if that were the case......😁

    Job interview

Ideally suited and booted or at the very minimum smart casual with polished shoes and no denim jeans. If bearded then trim it, if not then shave. Make the effort as this shows that you are serious and puts you ahead of the other candidates. I imagine there may be at least 10-15 for a role...

Points awarded for the Opinel, I have a #9 version. These simple high quality knives (popularised by French railway workers) are the best!
