    2001 GT Zaskar re-build

Re: Superb build. Those Pace forks just ooze quality engineering. It would break my heart to cut that steerer tube to length lol.

Can you help pin point which model Bombers these are....

I run my Marathon S at about 30 psi (2 bar.) I bought an old low pressure shock pump off ebay becausr the modernones are pretty much useless at these low pressures.

Can you help pin point which model Bombers these are....

Re: I'm almost certain that they are MX Pro Air. I've got a pair that look very similar, the only difference being the air valve screw on caps. I think that they made them in 100mm and 80mm with either steel or alloy steerer tubes. Mine are 80mm with a steel steerer. An ordinary shock pump...

    1988 Muddy Fox Courier

Re: Great find. Beautiful lugged frame and the paw prints in the seat stays are a great touch. I bought mine in 1987 and fully restored it last year. Luckily you have the saddle, much faded (they all do that sir.) I threw mine away and replaced it with a gel saddle in the late 90s.

    WTB Wheel Rim Question

Hi everyone. I've got a pair of silver coloured 26" WTB Speedmaster 23 x 11.3 rims, front on a Marin hub rear on an (axle-less) STX-RC hub. They are in good condition with all the decals (most important.) Currently the XT hubs are on grey Mavic Oxygen rims, these are a bit heavy and don't look...

    Marzocchi Marathon S Forks

Re: Thanks for the help/suggestions. Apparently Rockshox made some forks (Duke/Psylo?) with similarly recessed valves but soon altered the design to use exposed valves under aluminium caps. After a little head scratching I think I've solved it. The screw in adaptor doesn't reach the pin on...

    Marzocchi Marathon S Forks

Re: The screw in cap at the top of one fork leg has a central recessed valve and an offset recessed valve. The offset is for +ve air (compression)and the central is for -ve air (rebound speed.) The other leg has one central recessed valve for +ve air. I have the "Marzocchi" adaptor i.e. the...

    Marzocchi Marathon S Forks

I've rebuilt a set of these air sprung oil damped forks, i.e. powder coat, new seals and new Schrader valves. The +ve and -ve air valves are recessed into the fork leg caps. I've bought an adaptor (not O.E.M as these are unobtainable) and this works fine on one side. The other leg has an...

    Resurrection of a Prophet

Excellent job, looks similar to the same era Marin Mount Vision etc (apart from the fork.) Keep an eye on that rear hub. You may have removed a hardened surface from the cones on which the ball bearings run.

    Err having a blonde moment!

Re: Right side sitting on the bike is the front brake. Same as motorbikes. In fact back and front brakes are both on the right hand side on motorbikes (except for "classic" British bikes with RHS gear change and LHS rear foot brake.) Every bike I've had and have has been like that.

    RickTheUncivil Feedback

Re: NOS XT Skewers I've just bought a pair of XT Skewers off Rick. They were as stated, all shiny and new. They arrived well packed and within 2 days of me paying for them. Highly pleased with the skewers and the service.

    Square Taper to Octalink

Help needed here please. My Marin Mount Vision has a knackered square taper BB with a cheap and nasty crankset. I've got a nearly mint Shimano XT Octalink crankset. The square taper is English thread x 123 mm. The nearest Octalink BB is 121 mm, would this be a direct replacement or do I need to...

    Colour me..

No build thread for the Fox, hadn't found this site until I was well into it. None yet for the MVision though I may take a few photographs and post them on here. I'm in the process of buying parts of ebay et al . I've got XT cranks, clutch rear mech and V brakes. A pair of retro Mavic wheels on...

    Colour me..

Re: Serendipity or what ? I've the same dilemma with the same bike. My Mount Vision is stripped down and the rebuild is stalled because of my indecision. I don't want to polish the frame so it's got to coloured. I was going to go all orange but then I thought that it would look too much like a...

    2000 Marin B-17

Re: Thanks, violence it is! Black cranks and pedals would be my choice. Whatever, it's a lovely bike looks very modern (if that's a complement on this site.)
