    Logos on parts

Early high-end components where chemically etched then laser etching became the #1 go to. Typically chain rings were milled logos where structural failure was rarely an issue. Stems, bars, and seatposts NEVER (at least from companies that knew their head from their ass)!

HOUSE OF LOOPTAIL on FB for retro repop tyres and maybe more

I've traded Emails with the guy and later learned he is also friend of a fellow that is a former employee/ good friend of mine. He is REALLY enthusiastic about the early Mt. Cook Bros. F-Type Crank Mold

That is one of the first handful of test "pressing's" of the Cook Bros. Racing F Crank. It was pressed in a 2000 ton hydraulic forging press. The first operation is to see if the shape turned out right/ correct 👍. More material than necessary is used in this phase so as not to forge a...

    Silverfish 1993 Fat Chance Ti

It takes some "elbow grease"! On anodized parts the laser etching is burning off the anodizing leaving bare aluminum logo. All the "high end" cranksets were made of 7075-T6 which has zinc in it for strength, but makes the material more likely to corrode. Laser etching Titanium just roughs...

    Silverfish 1993 Fat Chance Ti

FYI: Use a pencil eraser to clean up the laser etching on your bars and cranks! With a little "elbow grease" you will get the etching looking brand new.

Old Skool Adverts--- Got a Favorite, Post it.

Antonio Colombo is a very cool guy. Back in the day (late 80's thru 90's) we talked a lot at the Interbike & Eurobike party's. He really cared about cycling and dug all the small American companies n (like mine). Very different from Valentino Campagnolo who only cared about yachting.
