Funny you should mention that. I'm about to send a couple of architectural models out with 50th scale and 100th scale. 50th scale has a Tom Ritchey 'tache. 100th scale is on a Road Logic. I think I might need to get out more...

It might be worth following this thread. It would appear that Tsundere is doing exactly what you're planning. As for the designs, you could just print an image from the internet. I tend to redraw them so they work better at scale and I can create laser cutting paths to cut them out. Full size...

Will do. Getting the tyres ready for mould making as I type this. Might have a rolling chassis before too long.

Thanks Frankenorange. This is what happens when you ask a model maker who is into bikes to make bike trophies. The event was organised by a good friend of mine, so I got a bit carried away to help make sure the weekend was a success.

Thanks Greenback. They're waterslide transfers. You can get the paper for them off eBay for a few quid, and print them using any desktop printer. This is the stuff I used: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232322269621?var=531574309332 Then all you need is a quick covering of spray varnish/lacquer to...

Exactly that. There is a diamond knurl pattern of the tread that would be obliterated by supports. Try to keep the supports somewhere that you can sand and fill without causing problems.

The event needed trophies for the top four finishers in the elite mans and women races. Unfortunately, I found out that there were kids' races on the day before. If I didn't make trophies for them too I would not be able to sleep at night. That meant ten more trophies than I was actually asked...

Laser engraved acrylic disc to hold the text. The numbers around the outside are the lacing sequence for a continuous length of fishing line to make the spokes... ...then the resin cast tyre halves sandwich the disc. A quick bead of filler takes care of the join between the two halves. Then...

It was the UK qualifiers for the Pump Track World Championships this weekend. I had the job of designing/making the trophies for it. Halo Twin Rail tyre modelled in CAD. I was going to use the tyre moulds from the Yeti build to save a bit of time, but couldn't live with the unsuitability of...

BoTM BoTM May 2025 - Bar end special. It's voting time

Lava Dome for me, that's where it all started. My older brother got one for his birthday in '92 exactly like that one. I used to pinch it when he was out, and I was hooked from then on. Got my first mountain bike the following Christmas.

Apologies to all involved for my extended absence. Been a bit busy with other things. Well, the same thing, but a slightly different variety... Anyone going to the Pump Track Worlds UK Qualifiers?

Head's been full of other busy for the last few weeks, I really ought to dig this out again. I'm currently making a factory model for work which is taking up most of my three-dimensional capacity. It needs to have a lift-off roof and internal layout details. Although it sounds quite boring...

Thanks Baron. I'd love to take orders, but I suspect that the probable cost and waiting times would scare most people away. I've never properly added it up, but the Yeti build at a reasonable hourly labour rate, plus materials, would likely be similar money to the real one. That's the problem...

    Pace RC35 canti rocker

You may need to make the hole in the rocker bigger. I've fitted a purple one to a set of RC35 AB, and had to bore the hole out a bit. I may still have the original rocker if you can stand waiting until the weekend to find out.
