After polishing alloy and steel components, like cranks, what do people recommend to prevent it from oxidizing again over time? Lacquer?

When you think about what is a Hybrid bike other than an old style MTB (like a Killer V) with skinnier tires. I'm assuming you're doing the C2C on road (or on the cycletrack route) If you bike has knobbly on it, think about replacing them with slicker tyres like these...
