Retro steel MTB - any ideas?

Spot on! That looks literally identical, definitely 97, good work finding that 👍 I had a P7 a few years ago with the diamonds but yes, feels / looks more like a Merlin.

Retro steel MTB - any ideas?

My best guess atm is a 97 Merlin with Ritchey logic prestige tubing, apart from the diamond rivnuts and canti cable guide between the seatstay it’s identical to Merlin’s I’ve seen. The front seat tube clamp with scalloped tubing, subtitle headtube characteristics, the dropouts, the top tube...

Retro steel MTB - any ideas?

Hello, trying to identify the maker, Ritchey dropouts, direct drive fork, beyond the serial number there's no markings. Seems like a quality frame, guessing it's probabaly impossible to know but worth asking 👍

Sealed Shimano freehub service - need advice

Yes, it's tricky finding these types of Shimano spares, like you say just replace the whole thing. Unfortunately I have the mentality of spending £300's worth of time to save myself £30 😂 and end up with a used part! Thanks for your input 👍

Sealed Shimano freehub service - need advice

Yes, I've seen people just tap them out, the one I removed today wouldn't even come out with a slide hammer! I've managed to find a replacement from a R500 which has a rubber surround so was quite easy to remove. I guess that's the only way forward, to find salvaged ones 👍

Sealed Shimano freehub service - need advice

I know these aren’t designed to come apart but does anyone know if you can buy the metal / shaped washers that don’t come out without destroying them?

Hope tech model 1 hydraulic brakes

Hello. I have no common sense with hydraulics, I normally just fiddle and hope for the best! My right lever will not slacken off, I've taken the cap off, the internals look good, the thread is good, the seal piston goes up & down (in and out of the fluid / chamber), I've tried draining the...

Where to source 26mm Shimano Piston Seals?

Yes, it does seem that way, they're relatively cheap so makes sense to just replace the whole thing, I've some coming from China to test but they're taking forever & getting restless! Thanks anyway :)

Where to source 26mm Shimano Piston Seals?

I have a few that are letting in air: M447 /M8000 / M596, I've always cleaned them and they've come back to life but over the last year it's not been working & they've started to pile up. All the seals look the same so assumed they're all the same size, is that not the case?

What speed is my Xenon rear derailleur?

Thanks guys, that’s all good advice, this particular one was in a box with 8s parts but didn’t want to sway option as I had a feeling it wasn’t an 8s and with the black outer plate & silver inner as you pointed out I was thinking maybe 10s. Thanks for you help, appreciated 👍

What speed is my Xenon rear derailleur?

Can someone please educate me on how to identify Xenon mech speeds without mounting them?! (assuming you dont have the rest of the set for reference). I've attached one as an example, thanks

Single chainring crankset - need advice!

Thanks guys, yes, it did come with a spacer, it fits inside a recess inside the drive arm flush with the lock ring / chainring so unfortunately doesn’t offer any padding - the RF data sheet link is really useful & the heads up on the 83mm bb, together with this and some digging on how RF measure...

Single chainring crankset - need advice!

The best explanation for measuring a spindle that I can find is ‘the length + 5mm’ which makes sense as this is supposed to be a 137mm and I can make it measure 132mm if I ignore the 3 small pre-installed spacers. So I guess my question now is what setup does a 137mm spindled crankset work on?

Single chainring crankset - need advice!

Yes, this looks to be about 20mm to wide!

Single chainring crankset - need advice!

Hi clubby, thanks for your reply. It’s a race face ride cinch. I think the spec is 137mm but actually measures 135mm (unless I’m measuring wrong). 137 seems to be quite a common size but ‘fat bikes’ did crop up when researching!
