Fillet brazed off road adventure bike of unknown origin.

I like that - braze-ons galore. My money is on Lee Cooper/Orbit: sleeved seat tube cluster and forward facing clamp. It does looks a bit Robertsy but maybe the fillet filing doesn’t quite fit?

    Work bikes

Got to love some sticker action ⬆️ I built this ugly spug for locking up and leaving. having no fear of loosing it is very liberating, and I’ve been using it for all sorts of duties.

How do I remove a saddle from a Moots?

Carefully: approach from the side and don’t look it in the eye…..

Imlach's Sweaty Hippie Funk Collection, adventure bikes, rusty rats, cruisers and other alt bastardisations of bicyclery

Agreed. 20th C. aero is fascinating: how come it shaped so many things from planes, to trains, to automobiles, to bikes, to interior decor? The promise of personal speed. In the 19th C the speed of a horse was fastest; or if you were richer than a horse owner, maybe mimic that speed feeling...

Wanted bottom bracket shell facing tool

I’ve got a bunch of frames that need a good facing, so am going to bite the bullet. Anyone got a tool that’s gathering dust and up for grabs? Ideally a combo tap and face like the LifeLine ones, but facing is key. Looking for durable, practical and affordable not NOS campag 😀

Suntour LePree 3 pulley rear mech

There are loads of issues with AI practically and ethically, but something like this gets you to 90% with traceable links on a non contentious subject - seems a good use and no more inaccurate than the human opinions, lost rememberings and heresay that many forums are awash with. I guess a...

Suntour LePree 3 pulley rear mech

Despite the AI flowery language (“durability over lightweight finesse?”) that’s pretty good and useful! There isn’t a pic of a 3 pulley cyclone on Disraeli gears as the link above suggests, but there is one Here :

    Late-80s Cannondale (SM1000?)

I like these frames - light and tough - and it looks like yours came with some interesting forks too. I guess you have to decide where on the bike spectrum you want to go: from pristine catalogue clone to daily beater. I think I’d take the survivor patina and play with that: scruffy but...

Where is a 1990 Marin Catalogue??

I can just about read the blurb on the left which says it has Suntour XC pro, Ti bars and apparently, spokes?

    U brake

I’ve just used Odyssey bmx items (Slim by 4) but kept the washers from the old Shimano ones as they fit the recesses in the U brake arms better (the odyssey pads have V-brake style washers). Pads are very effective vs standard black ones.

Where is a 1990 Marin Catalogue??

I’m no Marin knower, but do wonder if the 1990 Team Titanium ever had a cataogue build? It was Litespeed built no? And not cheap; if you were buying one in 1990 would you insist on a vanilla Shimano XT/ Araya build, or say to the distributor who only had a few frames “this is my dream bike...

    Alpinestars Cro-mega 1992 sizing

Firstly, they are great frames, agile and comfy if not super light and well worth pursuing. Excellent True temper steel. If you are a normally speccd 6’1 human, I’d guess you’d need about the same amount of seatpost as me. You can dial in how much stretch is right with stem and bars - I went...
