    Raleigh Ti frame with repair

I can't believe that raleigh had ti welding facilities in their factory at this point, fit such small scale production, so in assuming they had them made by someone else, like Orange did

    Raleigh Ti frame with repair

Did raleigh do such hi spec ti welding? Many raleigh welded ti frames look like I did it tbh. I think nearly every one I've seen has broken too😪

    Raleigh Ti frame with repair

I'm surprised the repairer didn't have a go at filling the hole. I mean, if you're given a frame with a crack to repair, and you hand it back saying "yeah, I repaired the crack - it's got a hole instead now. Hope that's ok. £150 please." Not sure about the expected response...😉

    1998 Orange P7 Tourer/ATB

You can always buy a stem in a shop during the trip - if you've got the shims - a lot of places will only have 1&1/8" to 31.8...

Wanted GT STS 1 or 2 1997 wanted

In the late 90s, riding a frame that was technically one size too small was normal😉

    tube size confusion

Brake blocks👍innit The smaller 700 wheel needs the brake blocks moving down to remain central on the rim. If you just stick a 700 into a 27" bike, the blocks will run on the tyre, giving "powerful but short-lived" braking performance🤕

Wanted GT STS 1 or 2 1997 wanted

Such a great looking bike😍 Early ones prone to failing around the bb, but it should be that only the good ones are left now👍

What length riser stem do I need?

You can swing these bars around, and as the hand position is back from the stem clamp, it suits a long frame: Don't generally like them, because people think they are going to be comfortable on a good- fitting bike, but they might be just the job here. Note the mirror. Draw your own...

    tube size confusion

A major source of confusion is that tyres come in an actual measurable size - the bead is rigid so the rim diameter has to be exactly that, and the inflated tyre width is fixed by the fabric within the tyre - there's no stretch. Inner tubes are a butyl rubber material. if you pump them up...

What length riser stem do I need?

The shims that fit ahead to ahead are absolutely fine. Those steel univegas are really nice, an underrated classic, but prone to being a little long. The paint looks beautiful👍

How much is my road bike (or parts of) worth?

There's not much interest in oldish carbon - people love to tell stories of sudden catastrophic failure. Mostly apocryphal, but with the glut of 21st century rim brake racers, it makes any sale at all an achievement. It ought to be worth £400, cheaper than a basic new bike! but you might...

What length riser stem do I need?

If you put your elbow pushing back on the nose of the saddle, you want the bars about an inch away from your fingertips.

What length riser stem do I need?

If you're happy on 54tt, it's unlikely you'll like 58. Even if you adjust the reach to be the same, the steering dynamics will be very different. 20mm is perhaps the limit. Inch quill to 1&1/8,ahead adapters are heavy but effective. An inch and an eighth stem will look awful on a narrow...

    Sold Orange Vitamin T 1993

Think of it as an investment! I've ridden 10s of 1000s of miles on mine, so a few pence a mile. Probably been cheaper than walking. And it's still great👍

    Headset for old GT forks

The crown race is pictured on the fork there - this is part of the headset, so when fitting a new one it needs to come off and be disposed of. It's covering the crown race seat, which is 30mm.
