Photoshoot of newly built Rickert Spezial

Knocked out a proper photoshoot of the Rickert Spezial I built up a few months ago. Parts are a nice used Superbe groupset with Velocity Fusion rims laced to the hubs. Sweet riding Veloflex tires with latex innertubes finish out the bike. 21 lbs, 1 oz as pictured.

Pretty much finished up the other one I want to keep out of this group. The 1984 Team made with Tange 2. I still need to finish some paint touch up on it and polish the crank but the basic build is done. For this one I swapped on some Suntour Superbe brakes and brake levers also with Suntour...

1980's Rickert Spezial with a Superbe Pro build.

Finished up this 1980's Rickert Spezial today. I had picked up the frameset a couple of months ago as a retirement gift to myself. Original plan was to build it up with a fairly decent old Campagnolo Athena groupset I have. But the call of Suntour Superbe was too strong. Found a nice...

    Restoring Seven 1980's Panasonic bikes.

The PT-3500 is done for now. I expect to make some changes after I use it a bit. This is one of the bikes I wanted for myself from the group buy. This is another 1987 bike. I've kept the original Deore derailleurs and 50/44/28 Biopace crankset. Also the stock Shimano Cantilever brakes. I...

    Restoring Seven 1980's Panasonic bikes.

Just as an update of sorts. I completely stripped down the damaged DX-4000. I kept a few of the parts, put others in the donation box for a local bike charity, and threw some really rusted bits away. I was going to keep the frame around to do something creative with but would up throwing it...

    Lovely, how does it ride?

    Restoring Seven 1980's Panasonic bikes.

Wound up stripping down the DX-4000 yesterday. When initially going over the bikes I felt some minor distortion in the top tube and down tube indicating a front end collision. I put it aside at the time. Yesterday I decided to see if it rode ok. The plan being if it rode ok I'd built it into...

And a few more of the DX-5000. Tires have been replaced. Didn't spot the cracks until I took the pictures.

Thought I was done with this second DX-5000 but I spotted several minor things to sort out. Better cleaning and wax and then things like glue the decals on the headset and such. Had to piece together a unicog cassette for this one since it came with some sweet Sante hubs. These are...

Busy with other problems today but finally got some time to get back at the bikes. I installed the new chain stay protector on the DX-2000. I also took off the freewheel on this bike and gave it a better going over. Removed the dork disk while I had the freewheel off. Put the freewheel back...

My favorite parts too. I've actually got some wheels being built on some Superbe hubs right now. And a whole group of Superbe Pro to go with them. I decided to use them on a build of an 80's Rickert frameset instead of Campagnolo as I just love how the Superbe parts look and feel in use.

I should have the 2nd DX-5000 finished today. It came to me with Shimano Sante hubbed wheels and no cogs for the Uniglide Freehub. I had some Uniglide cogs left over from the build of my Krapf bike. So I just had to find enough of those cogs to build a complete setup. That was taken care of...

    Restoring Seven 1980's Panasonic bikes.

The third finished one was the DX-2000. Like the DX-1000 it needs a new chainstay protector installed. This one came to me with 27" wheels despite the factory spec being 700c. So for now I swapped on a 700c wheeset. I still want to service the freewheel on this wheelset though and then I'll...

The second one done was the larger of the two DX-5000s. I was surprised to find 56/45 chainrings on it paired with the original 13-21 six speed freewheel. Both of these DX-5000 are in great shape. I still need to swap the chain on this one in the pictures but that's been taking care of now.

The first one done was the DX-1000. I also had ridden this one before even working on it and had quite likes it. I find this one very visually appealing. I will be pulling off the chewed up chain stay protector and replacing it. The needed new ones came in the mail yesterda.
