I d recommend 3x9, 8 spd components are less common. My preference is sti as opposed to gripe shift.

Re brake fluid contamination, hold pad over hob gas flame and any fluid will be burnt off. .... but anyway pads are reasonably cheap. Re juddering, could be contamination, worn bushings or brake rotor type. Many lightweight rotors have big gaps in the braking surface so thr pads catch metal...

8 Nm :o !!!! 5 Nm is what i see on many seatpost clamps, i do up to 4 Nm without problems and i weigh more than you. Use carbon paste, stops carbon post reacting with the aluminium in frame (yes, carbon frames have aluminium seat tube insery) and it contains tiny particles that grip the post...

Ok, so was mostly right. Cables and hose could do with trimming, just noticed : rear hose should run in the inside of the chain stay.

Can i ask how much do you think youll make in project flip? Ive bought 2 bikes in last year, cheap that very soon became non kepers so i sold on ebay and just about broke even. Doesnt seem to be any money in flipping, it certainly doesnt compensate for hours spent.

Brass and aluminium 8mm 1 mm wall are available on ebay, obviously a lathe to cut to exact length with square ends is best but a pipe cuttet is sevond best but will splay the ends slightly so tube may be slightly shorter, a couple of practice goes should see you right.
