Front Derailleur cable pull ratios - 11sp 105 R7000 road STI, Deore XT T8000 triple FD

Actually, according to Bike Gremlin it seems we were both wrong :p

Front Derailleur cable pull ratios - 11sp 105 R7000 road STI, Deore XT T8000 triple FD

lol - glad I'm not the only one with this perspective; as unfortunate as it is. Wheels I can kind of see some legitimacy in but don't get me started on BB standards - everything I own is now standard BSA threaded, and that's the way it will stay.. They've certainly done a great job of making...

    Where else to sell?

Can't help with any sales outlets unfortunately; tbh I think enthusiast sites like RB are as good as you're going to get as the market's absolutely dead and retro gear has near-zero appeal outside of enthusiast circles.. plus auctioneers are generally leeches and I suspect you'd see next to no...

Front Derailleur cable pull ratios - 11sp 105 R7000 road STI, Deore XT T8000 triple FD

Indeed; sadly lots of searching has failed to turn up any acceptable solutions.. I'd not considered using a cable release in the way you suggest - that really would be a shot in the dark and unfortunately too much faff for my tastes. Unfortunately for this exercise I'm not "many cyclists"...

Front Derailleur cable pull ratios - 11sp 105 R7000 road STI, Deore XT T8000 triple FD

Thanks for that really insightful response - reinforces a lot of what I've already found / thought. Agree about the lack of hydro triple left; sadly.. and I feel you're probably correct about parts interchangeability too although I can't confirm from experience. I could certainly use a...

Front Derailleur cable pull ratios - 11sp 105 R7000 road STI, Deore XT T8000 triple FD

Thanks - I did consider this but think it's highly unlikely that bits would be compatable. The only groupset I can find that contains both hydro and triple shifters is Tiagra 4700 (2x10, 3x10 mech, 2x10 hydro) and the only thing that appears similar between the mech and hydro shifters is the...

Front Derailleur cable pull ratios - 11sp 105 R7000 road STI, Deore XT T8000 triple FD

Thanks and probably; the problem is that I want a 3x11 setup with hydro disks and STIs, but no such setup is available off the shelf. I had a proper look inside an R7000 shifter recently with a view to modding one and it was.... intimidating..

Front Derailleur cable pull ratios - 11sp 105 R7000 road STI, Deore XT T8000 triple FD

I want to mate these two together for reasons I won't bore the forum with. The shifter is for a double FD, so I'm going to pull apart a dead one to see if it can be modded to shift a triple. Assuming this is even possible I understand from internet research that the cable pull ratios for 11sp...

Thanks for clarifying; sounds like an interesting setup. I'll keep in in mind in case I magically find some space :)

For Sale 1988 Gazelle Dutch bike (amazing condition)

Out of casual I-definitely-don't-need-another-bike interest, what's the situation with the brakes and gearing? Is it a rod-operated caliper on the front, coaster on the back with a 3sp IGH, or something different? Ta!

    1990 MB Dronfield restomod build

Ahh, cool - I stand corrected :) Might be worth keeping an eye out for a used set of 4700s..? The price of bits seems to be reasonable suppressed currently..

    1990 MB Dronfield restomod build

No worries and yes; I'd be very happy with that too. I agree about the shifters; IMO those Tiaga (4600) items aren't the best looking around either... you mention you're running 10sp, but aren't the shifters only 9? I had Tiagra 4700 (10sp) on my old road bike and it was very nice; not sure...

    1990 MB Dronfield restomod build

Great work; I'm a sucker for a nice old steel frame with modern components. It looks really nice and the black groupset / wheels / finishing kit don't look at all out of place as they sometimes do on a retro-modern build.

    Mini v-brakes

Cool - best I can pull from the archives: That's with 32mm tyres on 19mm wide rims. Clearance at the sides seems fine; if there's going to a problem it would be above the guard, there's plenty of clearance in use but I've put some protection tape on top of the guards as the cable retainer...

What product for ingrained rim filth?

Is that actually brake dust or corrosion of the rim? IME dust accumulates due to abrasion in wet conditions, and as such is essentially water-soluable. I've never encountered any that couldn't be got off with soapy water and a stuff brush. Also potentially a bit odd to find it near the centre...

Thoughts Please! Roberts Raw Frame Refinish

If it's of any help Brompton offer a range of clear powder-coated frames - "raw lacquer" along with tinted versions including "black" and "flame". The raw frames were introduced first and have a rep for fragility (at least the earlier ones). Not sure about later examples or the other variants...

    Mini v-brakes

Err... not sure if it helps but my Fuji Touring runs Tektro mini-Vs and TRP RRL levers (just brakes not STIs as gears are on bar-end shifters). This (factory original) combo works OK but I think there's a bit of an issue with pull ratio as they require a lot of adjustment as they wear. As...

For Sale Tektro 420 Rim Brake Caliper, £10

One of a pair as I managed to knacker the other somehow. Spares salvaged from knackered one included. Not sure if this was front or rear; mounting stud is 29mm long from where it joins the caliper, nut is maybe 15-20mm long so I'm guessing maybe this was the front one although the stud and nut...
