    Gen 1 Stumpjumper (1982?)

I agree. I have a bullmoose in the garage for it. I need to get an old Avocet saddle for it too. I think the handlebar might be right. If so, the stem would have been a 4 bolt bmx style stem.

    Possibly Suntour ARX

    Gen 1 Stumpjumper (1982?)

The groupset looks to be the original Suntour AR that would have come with it from the factory.

    Gen 1 Stumpjumper (1982?)

I think this pre dates XT. It doesn't look like deerhead.

    Gen 1 Stumpjumper (1982?)

This is available locally. I'm going to check it out tomorrow. I'm a buyer, not a seller. I think it's a good price but I don't really know. What do you think it's worth?

I found a retro bike frame under a pile of accumulated bike frames at a once upon a tweeker house. Ask me how much!

Wow, it's just like the time that a guy found a Jaeger-Lecoultre chronograph watch at thrift store for $5.99 and sold it for $35,000. Oh, wait, no it's nothing like that.

    Found a fork :) 1997 Marzocchi Super T

It looks much better without paint. I like it.

I might have just the tires for you. They are Maxxis Minion DH 26X2.5 with skinwalls. Does the frame fit tires that wide? I'm in the U.S. so shipping isn't a problem if you are interested.

BoTM BoTM November 2023 - Rider Special - time to vote

There are several that I would love to own as a collector but the Ritchey is the one I would most enjoy on a trail.

GT Zaskar idealised specification.. show me yours..

If I were to build a 99 Zaskar from the frame up I would use a RS SID, XTR M-950 parts but swap the front V-Brake with an Avid BB7 Disk brake. It makes an odd combination on the wheels but that doesn't bother me. Keep a XTR M-950 rear hub with your favorite rim brake, then use the same rim brake...

GT Zaskar idealised specification.. show me yours..

I don't know if this is helpful or not. 95 factory spec LE is a favorite of mine. The fork was upgraded over the 94 with a Judy SL replacing the Mag21. It's also the last year with XTR M-910. Selle Italia saddle. Bontreger/Titec handlebar. Syncros stem and seatpost. And to top it off, White...

    Syncros Cattlehead 1”??

    Syncros Cattlehead 1”??

The other option is to buy the 1&1/8th stem and use an adapter. I did that on my 91 Monster Fat.

    Syncros Cattlehead 1”??

I've seen 1" threadless. They are rare but they do exist. It might be easier to thread a steerer and get a threaded headset.

    Wheel rebuild advice

I wouldn't go for NOS parts. Find a good condition rim and hub on ebay or similar, use an online spoke calculator, order the spokes and watch a few videos and how to lace it all together. It's a fun weekend project.

    show us your gt's

I just stumbled across these old pictures on my phone. Fairly stock bike other than the Mag-21. STX group on it. It was a good bike but I haven't had it for a while now.

    Falling Off!

Then there was the time, probably 2001 or 2002, when I was riding my Trek 930 with a RS Indy-C along the top of Provo Canyon in Utah. A small section of the narrow single track had washed out on the edge of the cliff. I didn't have time to stop. I slid down the side of the canyon for about 20-25...

    Falling Off!

There is a rather technical single track just west of Denver Colorado, in Morrison, called Dakota Ridge. There are probably some member of the group who are familiar with it. That is the location of my closest, close-calls. In 1999 it was the main trail that I would ride on my old GT Tempest...
